One thing I really liked about infrared photography is that, by recording the light response of materials rather than colors, it is easy to find very dramatic scenes that are not noticeable under visible light. If you think about it, it is something almost metaphysical: it is there, but we cannot see it until we point a camera specifically designed to capture that particular light.
This Tweety plush was abandoned at a busy Havana intersection and everyone passed by indifferent. However, under infrared light it looks like a crime scene worthy of a detective movie. Even the water stains look like blood, since they take on a dark tone because they do not reflect much IR light.
What is most interesting is how the everyday can be transformed into something unsettling simply by changing the type of light we use to look. A harmless, almost childish object can take on a completely different narrative weight, as if the scene were hiding a story that normally remains invisible. Infrared photography does not only change the aesthetics, it also changes the way we interpret reality.

Algo que me gust贸 de la fotograf铆a infrarroja es que, al registrar la respuesta de luz de los materiales y no de los colores, es f谩cil encontrarse con escenarios muy dram谩ticos que con la luz visible no se aprecian. Si lo piensas bien, es algo casi metaf铆sico: est谩 ah铆, pero no podemos verlo hasta que apuntamos con una c谩mara dedicada a registrar esa luz espec铆fica.
Este peluche de Piol铆n estaba abandonado en una concurrida intersecci贸n habanera y todos pasaban indiferentes. Sin embargo, bajo la luz infrarroja parece una escena del crimen digna de una pel铆cula policiaca. Incluso las manchas de agua parecen sangre, ya que toman un tono oscuro porque no reflejan mucha luz IR.
Lo m谩s interesante es c贸mo lo cotidiano puede transformarse en algo inquietante con solo cambiar el tipo de luz que usamos para mirar. Un objeto inofensivo, casi infantil, puede adquirir una carga narrativa completamente distinta, como si la escena escondiera una historia que normalmente permanece invisible. La fotograf铆a infrarroja no solo cambia la est茅tica, tambi茅n cambia la forma en que interpretamos la realidad.
Bueno, aqu铆 les dejo esta peque帽a selecci贸n de lo que pudiera ser una pel铆cula de terror protagonizada por luces fantasmas. Jajaja. Los leo. D铆ganme qu茅 les parece esta t茅cnica fotogr谩fica.
