The photos 馃摳 are my entry to the #monomad contest from monochromes@monochromes and brumest@brumest.

Greetings, Hivers.

After 46 hours without electricity, I found myself looking at these photographs from a completely different perspective than when I took them. I couldn't help but wonder what these people might be thinking. Now elderly, without work, with little money, and with almost no hope that life will improve, perhaps they are simply waiting for time to pass until their final rest arrives.

I wonder if they ever feel any regret for spending so many decades defending an ideal only to end up feeling abandoned. Or perhaps they have simply stopped asking themselves those questions. Maybe that is the healthiest way to protect the mind.

There is no doubt that they are proud of the work they did in the past. You can see it in their eyes and hear it in their voices when they speak about their achievements and the victories they dedicated to the Revolution. We all know elderly people like them. And although it may sound harsh, sometimes I think it is kinder if they never have to wake up from that illusion. It must be deeply unfair to realize, at the end of one's life, that so much time cannot be recovered and that so many years of sacrifice did not bring the future they had hoped for. In the end, all that remains are a few diplomas hanging on a wall, like a gladiolus that begins to lose its beauty only hours after blooming.

I hope you enjoy the photographs, at least.

A hug to everyone.

Saludos, hivers.

Ancianos as铆 los tenemos muy cerca.
