The photos 📸 are my entry to the #monomad contest from @monochromes and @brumest.

Greetings, Hivers.

My friend @muhammadhalim was telling me that cat posts tend to get more views than others, and honestly, he is right. Posting pictures of cats on Instagram is almost a guaranteed like, because these furry little creatures are simply easy to love.

Seeing them on the streets is always a reason to smile. A few decades ago, cats in Cuba unfortunately became very scarce. I even came to think that they might eventually disappear, since some people were actually eating them. Fortunately, that practice seems to be a thing of the past.

Here is a small selection of these affectionate and furry little friends that can still be found wandering the streets.

Mi amigo @muhammadhalim me comentaba que las publicaciones de gatos tenían más vistas que otras, y la verdad es que tiene razón. Poner fotos de gaticos en Instagram es casi tener garantizado el like, y es que esos peludos son fáciles de amar.

Encontrarse con ellos por la calle siempre es motivo de alegría. Hace unas décadas, los gatos en Cuba lamentablemente escasearon muchísimo. Llegué a pensar que incluso podían llegar a extinguirse, ya que algunas personas llegaron a alimentarse de ellos. Por suerte, esa práctica parece estar en desuso.

Aquí les dejo una pequeña selección de estos peludos y cariñosos compañeros que todavía podemos encontrar por las calles.
