I often stop to observe the people I photograph on the street, not just to take the picture, but to try to understand them. I wonder why they are coming or going, what they are doing, what they are thinking. I see them trapped in their routines, walking as if they were following a script, without stepping out of the established.
And then my head explodes: does anyone observe me in the same way? Does my routine also seem predictable and boring to others? Maybe, from the outside, I also look like just another automaton, following the same path every day without realizing it.
We like to think that we are on the sidelines, that we observe while others follow the rhythm of life without questioning it. But what if we are part of the same cycle, what if the only difference between watching and being watched is the angle from which the story is told?
Maybe photography is my way out of that monotony. To make the ordinary look different, if only for an instant. Or maybe it's just another proof that we all follow a pattern, no matter where we see it from.

Con frecuencia me detengo a observar a las personas que fotograf铆o en la calle, no solo para hacer la foto, sino para tratar de entenderlas. Me pregunto por qu茅 van o por qu茅 vienen, qu茅 hacen, en qu茅 estar谩n pensando. Los veo atrapados en sus rutinas, caminando como si siguieran un guion, sin salirse de lo establecido.
Y entonces me explota la cabeza: 驴alguien me observa a m铆 de la misma manera? 驴Ser谩 que mi rutina tambi茅n parece predecible y aburrida para otros? Tal vez, desde afuera, tambi茅n parezca un aut贸mata m谩s, siguiendo el mismo camino todos los d铆as sin darme cuenta.
Nos gusta pensar que estamos al margen, que observamos mientras los dem谩s siguen el ritmo de la vida sin cuestionarlo. Pero, 驴y si somos parte del mismo ciclo? 驴Y si la 煤nica diferencia entre mirar y ser mirado es el 谩ngulo desde donde se cuenta la historia?
Quiz谩s la fotograf铆a sea mi forma de salirme de esa monoton铆a. De hacer que lo com煤n se vea distinto, aunque sea por un instante. O quiz谩s solo sea otra prueba de que todos seguimos un patr贸n, sin importar desde d贸nde lo veamos.
