Cuando estoy dibujando una página, veo toda la secuencia animada en mi cabeza. A veces sólo tengo que buscar entre todos “los frames” hasta encontrar el que se ajuste a lo que quiero expresar en una imagen estática.
Desde niña, siempre que me contaban algo, lo veía como una película entera en mi cabeza. Es difícil para mí visualizar una imagen congelada.
Las escenas de acción suelen ser muy rápidas. El lector tiene que entender en pocas viñetas todo el contexto, las emociones de los personajes y lo que están realizando en el momento y a la vez tiene que dar la sensación que todo ocurre rápido.
A veces, uno como dibujante se cuestiona si es necesario tantos detalles en una viñeta para algo que solamente captará la atención del lector unos segundos. Cuatro o más horas de trabajo que sólo serán vistas un par de segundos (salvo que el lector sea muy detallista y se detenga viñeta a viñeta a mirar los elementos).
Y creo que allí es donde interviene la pasión por lo que se hace. Es satisfactorio tener la sensación de “hice lo mejor que pude, con el conocimiento y las técnicas disponibles” sin importar cuántas personas lo noten ni cuántos likes se reciban.
Esta es una profesión que requiere mucha disciplina, fuerza de voluntad y sobre todo auto aprobación. Caso contrario, se pierde ese fuego interno que mantiene la pasión viva y se termina abandonando los proyectos.

When I'm drawing a page, I see the entire sequence animated in my head. Sometimes I just have to search through all the “frames” until I find the one that fits what I want to express in a static image.
Since I was a child, whenever they told me something, I saw it as a whole movie in my head. It is difficult for me to visualize a frozen image.
The action scenes are usually very fast. The reader has to understand in a few cartoons the entire context, the emotions of the characters and what they are doing at the moment and at the same time has to give the sensation that everything happens quickly.
Sometimes, as a cartoonist, one wonders if so many details are necessary in a cartoon for something that will only capture the reader's attention for a few seconds. Four or more hours of work that will only be seen for a couple of seconds (unless the reader is very detailed and stops frame by frame to look at the elements).
And I think that is where the passion for what is done comes into play. It's satisfying to have the feeling of "I did the best I could, with the knowledge and techniques available" no matter who people notice or how many likes are received.
This is a profession that requires a lot of discipline, willpower and, above all, self-approval. Otherwise, you lose that internal fire that keeps the passion alive and you end up abandoning the projects.
