Hi Steemians,
I am currently in the process of writing a real estate home-buying resource / eBook, based on the 40+ year real estate expertise of my father, Don Sutton (donsutton.com - Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). I am in the process myself of navigating that first home purchase.
I have also begun to write on Steemit for fun, and so I thought... "what a great place to post some of my content, and perhaps get some constructive feedback." Without further ado, below is the backend of a brief section of the book outlining all the different home types - condos, townhouses etc. I wanted to add this section because I think there some confusion with the newer, minimalist type of homes, such as modulars, transportable homes, etc.
MOBILE HOME – Moveable, single detached housing such as a trailer or premade structure which is used as a permanent dwelling. Upon arrival to the site (leased or owned land), is ready for occupancy except for incidental building operations such as foundation support or connection to utilities.
Important distinctions:
- Trailers, motor homes – originally designed for alternative uses (travel, vacation), but can be repurposed for use as a “mobile home”.
- Manufactured home – built entirely in a factory for the purpose of housing, according to regulations on construction, durability, transportability, fire resistance, heating, plumbing, etc. Garages, decks, porches etc. can be added on site.
- Modular home – also designed and built in a factory, but assembled on site according to local regulations, typically on top of a concrete foundation. As such, they are permanent structures, not mobile. They offer many customizations and features, and are treated just like a traditional home you’d find in many neighbourhoods.
