While I was still very much active in the real estate business, I learnt a very important lesson, which was "Do not ever underestimate anyone in life, ever!"
As I am telling you this, I am also reminding myself of the first rule we were taught about in the real estate business. Sometimes, the people you thought they had big money for such an investment actually may not have that much of it, and the ones you are looking down on, thinking they don't actually have it, do.
So during marketing, we market to every human being without looking out for physical appearance, status or whatever. Sometimes, the rich ones lie low, and you wouldn't know, and those with small change are just busy making loud noise...lol. No wonder they said that empty vessels make the loudest noise, hahaha.
I once met a man driving a small car, and within a month he made a 20 million naira real estate investment, just wow. This is not to say that the ones driving big cars don’t have money, but the main point here is never to look down on anyone, never! .
There is this man residing in Enugu State who sells crayfish, ogbono and egwusi in the market. He used to measure it in cups to sell and also grind them for his customers. So that day , I was actually marketing a 5 million naira land to him unto say that's where his level might reach. But surprisingly, the man said no to that; he doesn't like the particular land. I sent him others, and he chose the 15 million naira land. Am I dreaming? I said this a little within me. I was confused, but when I fixed a meeting with him so we could talk more about his investment goals, he showed me a two-storey building consisting of 6 flats that he just finished building here in Lagos State and rented out at 2.5 million naira each, collecting the rent yearly. My eyes opened very wild.
Overall I really commend his discipline and dedication because it takes someone who has both to be able to achieve such. Some people who actually have more than this man never even buy land, not to think of building or even other investments. I know a man like that, a close family friend having hundreds of millions in his bank account, but due to fear, he refused to do any investment in his life. I know I have meetings with him , all to no avail. Some people really need to transfer their wealth to those who can actually multiply it better.
