I used to meet these long-legged pinocchios on the lake, they were always with other sandpipers. But I don't see them anymore. It was amazing for me to see how they walk in shallow water quite close, I would even say together, with other species of birds, and to be more precise with green sandpipers, without any conflict.

And what really sets them apart from the rest is that they let me get closer, unlike the rest. I attribute this to the fact that this species of sandpipers prefers to live on the coast. And fishermen often sit on the coast, and the birds got used to seeing them and realized that a humans is not dangerous.

On this lake, these birds primarily catch their food, which is small insects and dragonflies, as well as small fish. In the first photo, the bird just caught one.
