SMaP 98 - Food in the beak

This week's theme is - FOOD IN THE BEAK.

The spotted nutcracker, Eurasian nutcracker, or simply nutcracker (Nucifraga caryocatactes)

One of my favorite photos! I managed to capture the essence of this bird. We call her "cedarine" for her love of these nuts.

The Siberian stonechat or Asian stonechat (Saxicola maurus)

This male managed to catch some insect in the bushes.

The common whitethroat or greater whitethroat (Curruca communis)

A ruffled bird with crazy eyes. Caught a flying insect. After eating it, she hid back in the bushes.

The Eurasian nuthatch or wood nuthatch (Sitta europaea)

These nimble guys are almost always with some food. They hide it all the time. That's why I call them chipmunk birds.

The Bohemian waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus)

Nothing unusual, quite ordinary picture in winter. Large flocks of these birds occupy rowan bushes and eat berries.

he black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius)

Now this is unusual. It was the first time I saw and learned that woodpeckers can also eat berries!
