馃 The common rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus) or scarlet rosefinch
馃摎 Carpodacus (Greek): karpos - fruit, dakn艒 - to bite
erythrinus (Greek, lat.): erythros - red
In the midst of spring, entering the forest, you can hear melodic whistle - "Nice to meet you!". This is the spring mating song of male rosefinch. The male sits on a separate branch and top of the bush so that he can be seen. He lowers his wings a little and sings.
The scientific name hints that this bird eats fruit, but this is not the case, at least here in Siberia. This rose bird feeds on plant seeds, berries, and in rare cases insects.
