馃 The ruff (Calidris pugnax)

馃摎 Calidris kalidris or skalidris (Greek) unknown bird mentioned by Aristotle
馃摎 pugnax Latin: pugna battle, struggle, pugnax warlike, pugnacious

I met a small flock of these birds on the river flowing along the banks of my city. The birds were very far from me. It is worth saying that by autumn the river begins to grow smaller, while exposing the stones that have been under water all summer. And these birds rested on these stones.
In this photo, just a shallow river.

Over these stones and mud, I cautiously crept closer to these birds. Some of them cleaned feathers, some slept, some walked on stones and ate insects.

I spent a lot of time near them and they even got used to my presence, they realized that I was not dangerous. Therefore, they were not afraid of me and even dared to fly up to islands of stones closer to me.
This flock was noticed by a yellow wagtail and flew to them, apparently thinking that they had found food, and she would get it too.
