From time to time when the water level at the danube at the water power plant in Wilhering is low I like to take some pictures of birds that look there for food in the shallow water. One of these birds is the wagtail. It is a quite common bird in austria and I already took several pictures of it during seveal of my photography trips. But I think these hunting pictures at the shallow river shore are probably one of my favorite pictures of the wagtail. In the first picture here you can see an insect on top of the water that the wagtail is going to eat.
The wagtail was walking up and down the river shore on the stones outside of the water and striking whenever it saw an insect on the water surface. I met with Stefan after work on this day taking some pictures together in the eving. During spring days there are a lot of birds visiting the shallow river shore to eat the insects that hide in the river sand. I hope next spring I will find some more motivation for some wildlifephotography since this year I didn't and I only took some pictures during my travels and during the city trips. I will also make some pictures on my upcoming city trip to Berlin. But somehow I didn't find enough time for some widlifephotography.
