Sometimes people consider themselves frugal, but they are stingy. If you are being careful about spending in order not to spend lavishly, that's understandable, but when you are being stingy and it shows that you are, then you have lost your values. It's a privilege to join this wonderful community. Thanks to jjmusa2004@jjmusa2004 for the information.

Back to the topic: if possible, if I come into contact with some money, I will choose to satisfy myself with homemade food. I will rather go to the market and get the raw materials I need to make the delicious meal I've been craving for. Let's say I come across #5,000 (Nigerian currency) to finish up my dish; the one I have in mind presently will be done with #3,000, which means I still have an extra #2,000 to keep compared to ordering a small size of pizza for #4,000 at Domino's Pizza, if not more than that now. All I need is to get the raw foodstuffs to turn into a whole sumptuous meal. My love for cooking is exceptional, and I love trying new dishes whenever I come across one.

I won't consider myself stingy because if I'm able to cook a meal, everyone in my house would want to have a taste, and sharing is what keeps the bond stronger. But if I'm to go for pizza or ice cream, I might not like to share because it wouldn't be enough for me alone. It's good sometimes to take time outside your home to have a treat, but in this part of the world, in my country, Nigeria, where inflation is roaming about, you would want to think twice before taking such a step, especially if you have a big family like mine.

I don't like eating out, or let me say I've trained myself not to take pleasure in street food; I prefer homemade, but at the same time, I do take myself for a treat just to have a change of taste and see new ideas of cooking, and trust me, here in Nigeria we have chefs, different kinds of them; just be sure of where you will eat. One of the reasons why I detest eating outside my home is the environment. Aside from restaurants, if you go to any other local restaurant to eat, you have to be extra careful so as not to eat poison instead of a sumptuous meal. My not knowing the kind of water used, the ingredients, or the process of making the food or even snacks pissed me off from street food at times, so I guess I'm not stingy; I'm just frugal.
