Assalamualaikum everyone! How are you all? I hope you are all doing well. I am also doing great. Today I want to share another recipe with you all. This time I tried something a little different. I made banana bread at home and I am very excited to share my first experience with you.
To be honest I made this banana bread because we had ordered some bananas two or three days ago. They were slowly starting to turn black and I did not want them to go to waste. So I thought instead of throwing them away why not make something delicious with them? I started thinking about what I could make with these bananas. After thinking for a while I finally decided to try banana bread. This was actually my first time making banana bread. I had never tried it before. I also did not have a proper bread loaf pan at home. So I decided to use the cake pan that I normally use for making cakes. The result was not exactly the shape I expected but the taste was really amazing.
Preparing the Bananas
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
First I took five to six bananas and mashed them very well. Then I added two eggs to the mashed bananas.
I mixed the eggs and bananas together really well. Make sure the bananas are properly mashed before moving to the next step.
Adding Sugar and Cinnamon
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
After that I added sugar. You can use powdered sugar or brown sugar if you like. I used regular white sugar.
I added the sugar to the banana and egg mixture and beat everything well until it was nicely combined.
Next I added a little cinnamon. I really like the smell and taste of cinnamon and I think it makes banana bread even more delicious. It gives the bread a lovely warm flavor.
Adding the Oil
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
After adding the cinnamon I added oil.
For this recipe I used two cups of flour and I used a little more than half a cup of oil. I mixed everything together really well.
Preparing the Flour
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Now it was time to prepare the flour. I took my flour and sifted it properly.I added one teaspoon of baking powder to the flour and sifted them together. Sifting helps remove any lumps and makes the mixture nice and smooth.
No Water Needed
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
One important thing is that I did not add any water to the batter.Bananas already contain a lot of moisture so there is no need to add water. If you add too much liquid the banana bread can become too soft and wet from the inside. I personally prefer it to have a nice soft texture without being too wet.If you feel that your batter needs a little more liquid you can add a small amount of milk instead of water.
Making the Batter
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Now I added the flour mixture to the banana mixture.
I mixed everything well until all the ingredients were combined. The batter will be quite thick and firm. Do not expect it to look like normal cake batter because banana bread batter is thicker.
Choosing the Pan
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
After mixing everything I transferred the batter into my cake pan.As I mentioned earlier I did not have a bread loaf pan so I used the cake pan I had at home. Because the pan was wider and the amount of batter was not enough to fill it properly my banana bread turned out quite flat.If you have a proper bread loaf pan I definitely recommend using it. The batter will stay higher in the pan and the banana bread will rise better. It will also look more like traditional banana bread and will be soft and fluffy.
Baking the Banana Bread
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
I had already preheated my oven.
I baked the banana bread at 250°C for about 15 to 20 minutes. Keep an eye on it because every oven can be different. When the top becomes nicely golden brown you can check it and make sure it is fully baked.
Optional Toppings
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
If you have walnuts or chocolate chips you can also add them on top before baking.
They make banana bread even more delicious and give it a nice look. Unfortunately I did not have walnuts or chocolate chips at that time so I decided to keep mine simple.
Time to Enjoy
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
After about 15 to 20 minutes I took the banana bread out of the oven and allowed it to cool for a little while.
Then I cut it into pieces and served it.And honestly the taste was really amazing. Even though this was my first time making banana bread and it did not rise as much because of the pan I used the flavor was delicious.
We enjoyed it with a cup of tea and it was a lovely snack for everyone.
My First Experience
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
I am really happy that I used those bananas instead of letting them go to waste. Sometimes a few simple ingredients at home can turn into something really delicious.
