Hello Foodies! ❤️
How are you all? I hope you are doing well. Alhamdulillah, I am feeling a little better now.
It has been almost four or five days since I shared my last post. The reason is that I was not feeling well. The weather is changing these days, and I was suffering from a sore throat, a runny nose, a cough, and fever. I had no energy to do anything, so I could not manage to prepare a post.
However, I really missed Ecency during these few days. I love sharing my recipes on this platform and talking with my friends in the comments. As soon as I felt a little better today, I decided to share a simple and nutritious recipe with you all.
When we are sick, we usually prefer food that is not too spicy or heavy. So today, I am sharing a traditional and comforting recipe called Aab Gosht. It is delicious, filling, and made with simple ingredients. I hope you will enjoy trying it!
Ingredients
2 kg chicken
1 large onion
4 small tomatoes
3 potatoes
1 cup chickpeas
Salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
A little black pepper
Vinegar for cleaning the chicken
Cooking oil as needed
Water as needed
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken and Chickpeas
First, I took about 2 kg of chicken and washed it thoroughly. Then I added vinegar, salt, turmeric powder, and water and left it for a short time.
I had already soaked the chickpeas beforehand so they would cook more easily. I put them in a pressure cooker and cooked them for around 30–45 minutes, until they became soft.
Step 2: Cook the Chicken with Onion
Next, I took one very large onion and chopped it finely. I added some oil to a cooking pot and put the chopped onion into it.
I did not fry the onion separately. Instead, I drained the chicken and added it directly to the raw onion. Then I added salt and cooked everything together with the lid on, allowing the onion to soften and the chicken to cook well. This method is simple and saves us from having to fry the onion until golden brown.
Step 3: Add Tomatoes and Black Pepper
Meanwhile, I took four small tomatoes and blended them into a smooth paste. You can skip the tomatoes if you prefer because this recipe tastes delicious even without them. However, I like adding tomatoes because they give the dish a beautiful colour.
Once the chicken was cooked well and the onion had softened, I added the tomato paste and a little black pepper. Then I cooked everything together until the tomatoes were well cooked and the flavours blended nicely.I also had three potatoes at home, so I peeled and cut them into pieces and added them to the chicken.
Step 4: Combine Everything
By this time, my chickpeas were completely soft and ready.
I added the chicken and potato mixture to the cooked chickpeas and mixed everything well. I let it come to a boil once or twice so that all the flavours could combine.
And that was it! My delicious and comforting Aab Gosht was ready to serve.
Final Thoughts ❤️
This recipe is simple, filling, and nutritious. The combination of chicken, chickpeas, and potatoes makes it a satisfying meal for the whole family.
We really enjoyed eating it at home. I especially love serving it with a fresh green salad because it makes the meal even more enjoyable.
I think this is a wonderful recipe for cold weather when we want something warm and comforting. You can also adjust the spices according to your taste.
Have you ever tried Aab Gosht before? What do you think about this recipe? I would love to read your thoughts in the comments.
