All of us seek happiness. All of us want to be happy. Unfortunately, due to our ignorance, we strive to find happiness in places where it cannot be found. We keep on doing this because superficial appearances delude us into thinking that it can be found where we seek it – within the world of desires and senses. However, true happiness cannot be found there.

True happiness lies in understanding, acceptance and letting go. It comes from peace of mind. Expect nothing, and appreciate what you have. Happiness cannot be far from a grateful heart and peaceful mind.

True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The journey to true happiness and to happiness nowis not a journey of physical distance or time; it is one of personal "self-recovery," where we remember and reconnect consciously to an inner potential for joy – a paradise lost – waiting to be found. - Robert Holden
