Chev here and I'm back with another entry for Splinterlands Weekly Fanart Contest, featuring Chaos Legion's very own emo boy, Thaddy!
I'm practicing a different style of coloring in this piece that t took me hours to finish this one!
Let me take you through the process!
First off, here's the AWESOME original artwork of Thaddy from Splinterlands' website.
Now, when I do artworks, I try my best to at least add a bit of reimagining so, the final piece won't look exactly like Thaddy.
I always start with a quick sketch.
Sketching allows me to visualize the illustrations final form. For me, composition is SUPER important!
I'm still a newb in art but I try my best to learn how to position characters so they appear a bit pleasing to the eye. _
Next is a clean lineart.
This part requires the least attention since its basically tracing the sketch I made in a separate panel. (I use Photoshop, btw.)
After the lineart, I then add the Flat Colors.
Most of the colors I used here, I took directly from the original card, tho I made some of the parts more simplistic since, sadly, I am not as good as the original artist.
Lastly, I added shadows, lightings and some effects.
I was conflicted whether I should do this white/blue color combo for the poison or the pink/purple above.
