  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste (or minced ginger)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing) - optional, for flavor
    Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for deep frying

For Serving:

2-Frying the Balls:

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Wet your hands and shape small portions of the dal paste into flat rounds or balls.
  • Fry until they turn golden and crisp, then drain on paper towels.

3-Assemble the Dahi Bhallas:

  • Soak the fried balls in warm water for 15-20 minutes.
  • Squeeze out extra water gently.
  • Place them on a serving dish.

4-Add Yogurt:

  • Pour whisked yogurt over the lentil balls, making sure they're covered.

5-Add Flavour:

  • Drizzle tamarind and green chutneys.
