Awhile back we decided to check out Industry City and it definitely did not disappoint. We stumbled upon Japan Village which had a food hall and a market. To start off, the mural outside of the building is breathtaking especially when the surrounding buildings all have the same warehouse look. We did end up getting a classic bowl of ramen from Ramen Setagaya and again it DID NOT disappoint.
Ramen Setagaya specializes in Tonkotsu Ramen, which means that their ramen is served with pork bone broth.
We both ordered the Classic Tonkotsu DX. When I first saw it, it looked like a pretty basic bowl of ramen. It has everything a good bowl of ramen needed, like the bamboo shoots, scallions, seaweed, chashu, and of course the creamy soft boiled egg. If you want a good bowl of ramen, you got to have the egg because it makes everything taste much better!
When you are eating a bowl of ramen, the first thing you want to do is to try the broth by itself. And lord behold, the broth was delicious! It was flavorful, and I just love the creaminess of the broth. The noodles were nice and thin and it also grabs the flavor of the broth very well. The chashu were nice and fatty, when you bite into it, the fat just melts in your mouth.
On a scale out of 10 I would give them an overall score of 8/10. I enjoy the atmosphere, the food, and the service. The price was good, and I enjoyed the bowl of ramen.Would definitely come back again to try the Black Garlic Tonkotsu DX
If you live in NYC and you haven’t been to Industry City, this is the sign you’ve been waiting for to make that visit.
