When I was a child I longed for December to come, because it was the month of joy in many ways. My mom would take the time, and the money, to go to the paint store for me to choose what color my room would be painted. For a while I loved pink and then purple.
As I got older I became fascinated with beige. I find it to be a warm color, it adds spaciousness (without being so white, because I don't really like that color) and it goes with almost any decor. It is the color that currently has my old room in my mom's house.
As an adult, I have lived in rented apartments. My husband and I have moved several times, about five times actually, and in some of those places we have been allowed to paint, in others not so much. Because my husband likes white, and sometimes also because of price issues, we have used it. I have still been able to choose that beige that I like so much.
I really don't like dark or vibrant colors on the walls, as I feel they alter my mind. Where I live right now, the kitchen and living room are yellow. Of course, I don't like it at all because it doesn't give me comfort, tranquility and calmness. On the other hand, the bedroom has a pearl white color that I like much more and I think it is ideal for sleeping.
I also do not like the decoration of, for example, all in wood furniture because for me it is like too much brown. So it is very different when I think of decorative elements of a room or a house. There I am fascinated to think of beautiful and colorful colors. Making everything a dream of contrasts and combinations.
I am thinking of building my little house soon where I can paint and decorate as I see fit 😻 I have designed it to be something like this:
Light colored walls, light gray floor, a small pink or gray furniture piece and a large dark blue one with yellow, purple, orange or green cushions (any of the four, not all four 😅), a white bookcase with small black accents and a matching lamp. My bedroom would be a perfect play of subtle colors that invite me to sleep in complete safety. Likewise will be the rest of my little house. I live it with so much illusion and excitement, like that little girl in the store choosing what color she wants her room to be 💜
