This week I went for the first time to visit the Museum of Sciences located in the city of Caracas, Venezuela. I have passed by the place many times, but I had never dared to enter it, until this weekend when curiosity motivated me to enter this temple full of knowledge to appreciate the wonders that await within its majestic architecture with a neoclassical style with art deco elements, a building that was designed by the architect Carlos Ra煤l Villanueva and built in 1940.
Esta semana fui por primera vez a visitar el Museo de Ciencias ubicado en la ciudad de Caracas, Venezuela, en muchas ocasiones he transcurrido por el lugar, pero nunca me hab铆a atrevido a entrar en ese museo, hasta este fin de semana fue que la curiosidad me motivo a adentrarme en ese templo lleno de conocimientos para apreciar las maravillas que aguardan dentro de su majestuosa arquitectura con un estilo neocl谩sico con elementos art d茅co, edificio que fue dise帽ado por el arquitecto Carlos Ra煤l Villanueva y construido en 1940.
Upon entering, I found myself confronted by a huge artificial giraffe, surrounded by several small dioramas or "natural" environments featuring prehistoric animals that once existed in Venezuela. From there, I began my adventure within this learning environment, exploring each of the exhibits.
Al entrar me encontr茅 con una enorme Jirafa artificial y la rodeaban varios peque帽os dioramas o entornos "naturales" con algunos animales prehist贸rico que existieron en tierras venezolanas; desde all铆 comenc茅 mi aventura dentro de ese entorno de aprendizaje visualizando cada una de las exposiciones que hab铆a.
In the first exhibit we entered, which was about "Tectonics," there were some interactive models that showed us examples of how the Earth's crust moves when an earthquake or landslide occurs. There were also a series of instruments used in the past (nowadays, there are more advanced technologies) to measure seismic movements in the Earth's crust. It's truly fascinating to have access to these types of instruments and learn about their history.
En la primera exposici贸n que entre se trataba sobre "Tect贸nica" hab铆a algunas maquetas interactivas que nos mostraban ejemplos de c贸mo se mueve la corteza terrestre cuan do se efectu茅 un terremoto o deslizamiento de tierras; tambi茅n hab铆a una serie de instrumentos que se usaban en el pasado (actualmente hay tecnolog铆as m谩s avanzadas) para medir los movimientos s铆smicos de la corteza terrestre. De verdad es muy curioso tener el acceso a este tipo de instrumentos y conocer su historia.
I then entered a room that had a very interesting exhibit titled "200 Years of Electromagnetism, from the Telegraph to Artificial Intelligence." This was a journey through the entire history of humanity's technological evolution; a collection of discontinued devices that several of the younger generations had never seen in their lives, but which are part of humanity's evolutionary process.
Luego me adentre en una sala que ten铆a una exposici贸n muy interesante titulada "200 a帽os de Electromagnetismo, del tel茅grafo a la inteligencia artificial", este fue un recorrido por toda la historia de la evoluci贸n tecnol贸gica de la humanidad; una colecci贸n de aparatos descontinuados que varias de las nuevas generaciones nunca hab铆an visto en sus vidas, pero que son parte del proceso de evoluci贸n de la humanidad.
The next section was dedicated to health, specifically "Times of Pandemic," a journey to understand the recent global pandemic and how a virus can endanger human life. There were also guidelines for preventing a repeat of the global event we're experiencing.
El siguiente espacio estaba dedicado a la salud, espec铆ficamente a "Los tiempos de pandemia" un recorrido para comprender el proceso que se vivi贸 recientemente en la pandemia mundial y como un virus puede poner en peligro la vida de la humanidad; tambi茅n hab铆a indicaciones para prevenir que se repita una ocasi贸n parecida a ese evento mundial que vivimos.
I continued walking through the museum and came to an area filled with taxidermy, or animal heads, adorning the walls. At first, it's a bit disconcerting, but then it's interesting to appreciate each of the species found in that space.
Segu铆 paseando por el museo y llegu茅 a una zona que estaba llena de mucha taxidermia o cabezas de muchos animales adornando las paredes, al principio es un poco desconcertante, pero luego es interesante apreciar cada una de las especies que se encuentran en ese espacio.
Then I came across two large dioramas. The first was the "Plains Diorama," which showcases all the wildlife of that region of the continent. These dioramas are fascinating for children; I could see the expressions on several young children's faces, and they were all enchanted by what they saw. The second diorama was about "African Fauna," a very enriching experience, offering a whole journey of learning about the animal species that live in these parts of the planet.
Luego me encontr茅 con dos grandes dioramas, el primero era el "diorama de los llanos" que muestra toda la fauna silvestre de esa regi贸n del continente; para los ni帽os estos dioramas son fascinantes, pude ver las expresiones de varios ni帽os peque帽os y todos quedaban encantados con lo que ve铆an. El segundo diorama era de "la fauna africana" una experiencia muy enriquecedora todo este recorrido de aprendizaje sobre las especies de animales que viven en estas zonas del planeta.
The museum has two floors. On the top floor, I found more fascinating exhibits. The first one I entered had a striking title, "Human Predator." It told a large part of the story of human survival over time, when they hunted for food and had to create tools and clothing from animal skins. This was another space where taxidermy reigned on the walls.
El museo cuenta con dos pisos, en el piso superior me encontr茅 con m谩s exposiciones fascinantes, en la primera que me adentre ten铆a un t铆tulo muy impactante "Humano depredador" una sala donde se contaba gran parde de la historia de supervivencia del ser humano a lo largo del tiempo cuando cazaban para alimentarse y ten铆an que crear herramientas y ropaje con las pieles de los animales; este era otro espacio donde la taxidermia reinaba en las paredes.
In the center of the first floor were several displays of ancestral pieces such as "Venus" artistic expressions from early civilizations, and there were also vessels that our ancestors used as coffins to bury the dead in the past.
En el centro del primer piso hab铆a varias muestras de piezas ancestrales como "venus" expresiones art铆sticas de las primeras civilizaciones y tambi茅n hab铆a vasijas que nuestros ancestros usaban como ata煤des para enterrar a los muertos en el pasado.
I came across an exhibition of fossil records titled "Memories of Life," a collection of fossil parts and a wide variety of minerals that are part of the time machine that tells us the story of life on Earth. This is the first time I've seen fossils in this way; I loved the experience.
Me encontr茅 con una muestra de registros f贸siles titulado "Memorias de la vida" una recopilaci贸n de partes de f贸siles y gran variedad de minerales que son parte de la m谩quina del tiempo que nos cuenta la historia de la vida en la tierra. Esta es la primera vez que veo f贸siles de esta manera, me encanto tener esta experiencia.
Finally, I entered the aquatic world space. There are two rooms there, but at the time I visited, only one was open to the public: "Cetaceans: Living Submarines." This was a fascinating display of various dioramas of the aquatic world and some fossils of immense marine animals. The walls displayed a wealth of interesting information about marine life and how to protect environments from pollution to preserve life in the sea.
Por 煤ltimo, entre al espacio del mundo acu谩tico, en ese lugar tienen dos salas, pero en el momento que fui de visita, solo ten铆an habilitada al p煤blico una sola que era la de "Cet谩ceos: submarinos vivientes" una fascinante muestra de varios dioramas del mundo acu谩tico y algunos f贸siles de inmensos animales marinos; en las paredes hab铆a mucha informaci贸n interesante sobre la vida marina y sobre c贸mo proteger los entornos de la contaminaci贸n para preservar la vida en el mar.
Without a doubt, this was a very enriching adventure visiting the Science Museum in Caracas. I especially recommend taking the kids so they can experience this knowledge-filled experience. At 31, I enjoyed this tour inside this wonderful temple that preserves the history and knowledge of humanity. I hope you enjoy this post. Good vibes.
Sin duda alguna esta fue una aventura muy enriquecedora visitando el museo de ciencias en la ciudad de Caracas, sobre todo aconsejo llevar a los ni帽os para que vivan esa experiencia llena de conocimientos, yo a mis 31 a帽os disfrute de este paseo por el interior de este maravilloso templo que resguarda la historia y el conocimiento de la humanidad.
