Como ya he venido contando en anteriores publicaciones, he emprendido mi carrera en el arte del tatuaje, este propósito nació hace mucho tiempo atrás desde que a los 15 años un tatuador no muy profesional me realizo mi primer tatuaje, pero solo hasta ahora fue que realmente tome la decisión de hacerlo real; una de las motivaciones que me impulso a practicar este arte, es que quiero realizarme los tatuajes yo mismo para así evitar decepciones cuando pago dinero y el resultado no es el esperado de parte de un "profesional". Esta semana decidí realizarme la primera auto-tatuacion y les vengo a compartir esta maravillosa experiencia.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I have begun my journey into the art of tattooing. This ambition took root a long time ago—ever since I was 15, when a not-so-professional tattoo artist gave me my first tattoo—but it is only now that I have truly decided to make it a reality. One of the things that motivated me to pursue this craft is the desire to tattoo myself, thereby avoiding the disappointment that comes when you pay for a service, only for the result from a so-called "professional" to fall short of expectations. This week, I decided to give myself my first tattoo, and I’d like to share this wonderful experience with you.
Organice todo el espacio de trabajo mientras me preparaba la mente para realizar este tatuaje, ya que me voy a autoinfligir un dolor mientras me realizo el tatuaje, debía tener la mente en calma.
I organized my entire workspace while preparing my mind for this tattoo; since I was going to inflict pain upon myself in the process, I needed to keep my mind calm.
Igual tenía miedo, pero no tanto por el dolor, sino porque normalmente se usan las dos manos cuando se tatúa a un cliente, con una se manipula la maquina y con la otra se estira la piel en la zona donde va a penetrar la aguja. Pero en esta ocasión solo iba a poder usar una mano y tenía que ingeniármela para estirar la piel de otras maneras, eso es lo que me preocupaba.
I was still afraid—not so much because of the pain, but because, when tattooing a client, you typically use both hands: one to handle the machine, and the other to stretch the skin where the needle will penetrate. In this instance, however, I would only be able to use one hand, so I had to figure out other ways to stretch the skin—that was what worried me.
La piel tiene que estar bien estirada para que la aguja penetre bien la dermis y la tinta se introduzca correctamente; ayudándome con los dedos de la mano que sostienen la maquina y haciendo presión con el posa brazo pude estirar un poco la piel y así fui realizando paso a paso cada línea de contorno.
The skin must be kept taut so that the needle can properly penetrate the dermis and the ink can be deposited correctly; by using the fingers of the hand holding the machine—while also applying pressure against the armrest—I was able to stretch the skin, allowing me to work through each outline, one line at a time.
Algunas líneas quedaron un poco torcidas, pero sin embargo considero que están pasables para habérmelo hecho yo mismo. Tenía mucho tiempo que no me tatuaba y había olvidado el dolor, pero como tenía que estar en calma y concentrado para no equivocarme, soporte ese dolor como pude; el humano y su masoquismo.
Some of the lines turned out a bit crooked, but I still think they’re passable, considering I did it myself. It had been a long time since my last tattoo, and I’d forgotten what the pain was like—but since I had to stay calm and focused to avoid making any mistakes, I just endured it as best I could; humans and their masochism.
Después de haber realizado las líneas de contorno, solo me quedaba rellenar con varios degradados de negro para darle más volumen al diseño; esta parte se me dificulto mucho, por no poder estirar bien la piel, así que no pude realizar el relleno como me lo imaginaba, pero aun así considero que el resultado final está muy aceptable. El diseño es de un personaje llamado Jinno del anime afro samurái; este es el primero de muchos tatuajes que me voy a estar realizando, espero les haya gustado el resultado, buenas vibras.
After completing the outline, all that remained was to fill in the design using various black gradients to add more volume. This part proved quite difficult because I couldn't stretch the skin properly, which meant I couldn't execute the shading exactly as I had envisioned; nevertheless, I believe the final result is very acceptable. The design features a character named Jinno from the anime Afro Samurai. This is the first of many tattoos I plan to get—I hope you like the result! Good vibes.
