Hardcore Townsmen! #1 The Icy Frontier
Hello Hive Gamers! This time I want to introduce my hardcore Townsmen playthrough. This is a game that looks very childish and simple on the surface, and for years it gave me hours of fun, so (guided by my addiction to absurd difficulties lol) I decided to start a new game with the highest possible difficulty... I chose the strictest and most coherent guidelines possible.
I started a game in the "Frozen Front" sandbox scenario, where it is always winter and resources are limited. Poor townies will freeze to death... This prevents me from relying on harvests or extensive fishing sources, forcing me to rethink how to keep the population fed.
I enabled the bandit threat and imposed a rule on myself: no reloading the game if a disaster occurs, such as a fire or any significant setback.
Finally, I am not using prestige points to speed up constructions, recover lost resources, or call the merchant.
All of this resulted in a very challenging game that, to be honest, I didn't even know how to handle. At first, I couldn't find a way to get the economy moving or establish a prosperous village. So I came up with a plan using the little brainpower I had left that hadn't been burned out by stress. I set out to exploit the resources I had at my disposal and process them to sell manufactured products to the merchant. With that money, my intention was to buy products that weren't in my village, such as wheat, tools, and construction materials.
However, the reality was different. Every time I tried to save resources to sell, the bandits would plunder them (damn Stormcloak rebels!). When, with great effort, I managed to build farms, looms, and textile workshops, I realized another problem: if the resources weren't looted, when trading them, the merchant鈥攕howing himself to be a hardened usurer鈥攂ought them from me very cheap and sold me the scarce products at very high prices.
I don't know how I'll make this village survive, but I'll have to focus purely on subsistence: gathering all the money I can and trying to moderately contain the bandits with the city guard, which in itself is very poorly armed and ill-equipped. Between the ice and the hunger, I'm going to have to tell the Townnies to eat snow while they dodge the bandits' axes.
