Couple of days back while checking in my cupboard, I found some Micro-mats that I bought quite a long time back!

I just forgot about them and never really used them!

So I decided to bring them to my restaurant and start doing some tests!

Let me share with you, how the testing is going on after 12 days of placing 4 different seeds on them!

Day 1

  • Spring Onion
  • Beetroot
  • Wild Rocquette
  • Chia

These were the 4 different seeds that I placed on the mat!
I then simply soaked the mat with water and left overnight indoor.

Day 2

I was really very surprised the next day when I checked the progress...

Oh well...the wild rocquette seeds already started to germinate...amazing nature!

Day 3

While the 3 other seeds were still same...the wild rocquette was now growing up, with the first 2 leaves coming out...yes my friends, in only 3 days!!!

Day 5

Finally on the fifth day, I noticed the beetroot seeds starting to germinate!

The Spring Onion and Chia seeds on the other hands...no change on day 5!!!

Day 9

Great news on day 9, the spring onion seeds finally started to germinate...So now I have 3 seeds out of 4 which started to grow...

The chia seeds did not move at all...maybe I have to learn a bit more on the chia seeds...

Day 12

Below are the latest photos I took yesterday - after 12 days on planting!

Overall I am very satisfied with the results and looking forward to plant a little more this coming week!

I will avoid the chia seeds and try some others like coriander/mint/green salad etc...

Have you ever used hydroponic micro mats for growing herbs my friends!?

Please share any tips that can be useful for me in the comments section below - I will be grateful!

My main goal is to be auto sufficient in herbs and micro plants at my restaurant - then I will no more spend money in buying them from outside as they are quite expensive!

Thanks so much for reading my post!
Wish you all a great start of the new week!
Stay blessed!
