So I have been on HIVE going on 2months now 😁 (yeah I'm a late bloomer) and although my journey hasn't been all roses I will admit it has been fun and rewarding.

I heard about hive from a group interaction on FB where I meet @readforfun who told me I might want to give the hive a try since steemit wasn't working out for me and he even sent a signup link via ecency.

"𝗜𝗽 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝘀 𝗟𝗼𝘄" kept popping up every time I click submit on the registration form and it was pretty frustrating

My search on google for a solution turned up quite a few hive posts on the issue but rather than proffer working solutions all I got were reasons WHY it happens and how quality score is calculated 🙄

I was at this deadlock for a few days and strangely I didn't think it wise to go find @readforfun on FB to ask why or a solution to this 🤷‍♀️

Later I realized there were OTHER sign up options for hive besides ecency so I decided to try again using a different Dabb and this time I used PeakD and

it was a success on the very first try 🥳🥳🥳

Finally, I was on Hive and I couldn't wait to wow the community with my presence and creativity, so I created my first post 🥰 added my pics then clicked post

You've got to be kidding me, now what?.
So back to my trusty google to find out what this new issue and I realized I didn't have enough resource credits (RC) which is basically what allows you to interact on the blockchain by posting, commenting or voting.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴?
At this point, you can either buy some Hive to increase your RC or get a delegation.

I found 𝗚𝗜𝗙𝗧𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥around this time and all I had to do was put in my username and complete a captcha and in minutes I got a 16HP delegation for 7days,
finally, I can post, comment, and like to my heart's content lol least for the next 7days.

So on the comments of my first post which was my introduction post I meet @jamerussel who supported the post and also left some tips as well a link to a discord server where he was one of the admins and assured me I would get help in real-time whenever the need arises on hive 🤗🤗

I wasn't on discord original so had to get the app and signup before I found my way into the terminal

The first day I went in there I meet @wesphilbin @thekittygirl and @stayten and for total strangers, these guys were pretty awesome 💞💞

I remember asking tons of questions that day that they answered but i think it was how welcoming they were that completely sold the terminal to me.

That day I also got an additional HP delegation when they noticed I was running on the 7day gift giver steam and just like that I found a better source for all my hive queries than google lol

So hive got a lot easier for me to navigate thanks to the support I could now count on in the terminal but about the same time, certain weird characters started showing up with devious intentions.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗗

The first time I had gotten a random DM on discord was on the 24th of last month about a Cyberkongz from someone or something called 'a black hole' 🙄

supposedly they were giving some ETH and I was invited to be a part of this giveaway 😁😁

I did decide to check out the game and ended up in the room where you asked to join easy 👍

and finally,you receive this DM with further instructions 🤐

So in other words I'm supposed to link my wallet to some RANDOM site I don't know from Adams to get a share of a giveaway I NEVER entered for???, yeah like that's ever gonna happen 👊

If there was one singular piece of advice that got drummed into me at the terminal it was "Guard your wallet jealously"

I discovered later that "CyberKongz" was indeed a legit game with a verified presence on Discord

But the message I had gotten wasn't from the legit server 🤷‍♀️ I'm sure you can already figure out all the things that could have gone wrong if I had gone ahead to link my wallet.

Anyways I put it all behind me and moved on.
So a few days ago I decided to set up a Dtube account, which was easy enough although during the setup I couldn't link my FB or phone number as the code never arrived but skipping those I was still able to set up the account and tried to upload my very first video.

The video itself uploaded just fine but adding a thumbnail became the issue and no matter how much I tweaked the thumbnail it just wasn't working.
I went into the Dtube discord channel where I dropped a message asking for help with the thumbnail upload issue.

Later I got an inbox from someone who said he was from the Dtube support desk and he was sent to help resolve my uploading issue 😇 got to admit he was professional to boot

we got talking and he let me know I needed to send him my public ID 🤔

At first, I assumed he was talking about my username and that sort of stuff but then he said

And I was like is this dude serious? why the hell do you need my wallet to help me fix a video upload issue!!! I mean seriously 🤦‍♀️

After he spitted that last trash I left his ass sitting and waiting on a reply from me as I went back to my trusty terminal 😘😘 where I asked the guys for help once again #olivertwisting

@brittandjosie also an admin at the terminal said right away not to even think of sending my wallet ID because it sounded scammy 🤗

At this point, the guys at the terminal pinged @d00k13 who I believe is more familiar with the Dtube platform and were so amazing and jumped in to help just like that.

He confirmed that my suspicion was right, this dude in my DM was trying to run a scam on me 😇 help is offered on dtube public rooms, not private DMs and the helpdesk thingy was bull 🤣🤣🤣

Another scam bites the dust 💐

So anyways he pointed me in the right direction and put me in touch with a 'genuine' Dtube assistant this time who took less than 10minutes to find me a working solution 💯 and finally I was able to upload my video 📼 and mind you this was all done publicly on the Dtube help chatroom, no private DMs.

I will share this here because I think quite a few people are having this same issue on Dtube.

At this point, you must have the picture you intend to use as the thumbnail for your Dtube video.

You will need to upload the picture from your system or phone to a third-party picture-sharing site.

I used Postimage since Imgur wasn't available in my location.

First, upload the photo

You are provided with options to resize your photo if you wish.

Postimage then creates shareable links to your photo.

Copy the most appropriate link from the option.

Return to Dtube and Paste the URL into the 3rd party URL box.

Click Publish and that should do it ✌

So I wanted to share this with you guys today, both the few working solutions to some newbie issues that I have had on the hive and also to sound a note of warning ⚠️
