It is said that nothing lasts forever, and yes, there is nothing that would be forever, not even human existence, so letting some people go out of our lives is a normal thing that everyone must experience at some point in life.
Though I am not the type that lets go easily, there are certain times I have to make such decisions when I notice the friendship is working or hurting my personal life.
It was a very hard decision to make because the friendship was a very long and sweet one until my friend met some girls and she seemed lost in life; everything about her became different, and whenever I tried to bring her back to herself, she would complain, and I am beginning to sound like a broken record in her life, so I just had to let the friendship go for everyone to have peace of mind.
When someone is tired of something, the person wouldn't hesitate to let the thing go, and when someone is tired of a person, you would see from their reactions that they don't want you, so why keep someone who doesn't want you?
It happened some years ago when I was working in the factory and I met this friend there. She left the factory before me, and we were still very good friends until she met some girls who took her to Ghana, which I wasn't aware of.
Some years later she messaged me on Facebook that she wasn't in Nigeria again. I wasn't angry because that was a good start for her as well, so we continued our friendship. We chat every day, but it got to a point where I would drop a message for her and she wouldn't reply until three days later.
I thought she was busy with work, so I wasn't angry, so one day, my husband asked me to help him deliver smoked catfish to his customers, and on my way, someone shouted my name.
I looked back, and it was my friend who I thought was in Ghana. We hugged and gist for some minutes beside the road, and she said she got back to Nigeria some months ago.
I was shocked because we talked on Facebook almost every day before she stopped replying to my messages and I stopped texting as well, but who am I to get angry? After all, I wasn't the one who paid her ticket back to Nigeria.
I thought since she came back we were going to continue our friendship, but then she had become difficult to cope with, and she was different from whom I used to know, starting from her dressing.
We exchanged contacts again, but whenever I texted, she wouldn't reply until after two or three days, and whenever we chatted, all she would say was, "Okay," I realized that she had moved on, so I should do the same.
The last thing she did that made me decide to let her go was that I saw her status. She came to a party in my area, and I messaged her. We chatted, and she said she was coming over and that I should wait for her at my junction. I was glad that I would hang out with her after a long time, so I dressed up quickly and ran outside to wait for her.
Only for her to stand me up there. I called several times, but she didn't pick up, and she didn't bother to reply to my text as well. I went back home sad. That was when I realized that she didn't want the relationship anymore, so I stopped texting or calling her number, and she never bothered to talk about what she did that day.
Sometimes, it is better to let it go than to force you to be with someone who doesn't want you anymore. Some days later she replied to me, which I didn't check before deleting her messages as well because I have a soft heart. If I should check, I would still go back to her, but I am tired of being neglected, so I let her go.
