It has been a great joy to us this period as we harvest our crops. Indeed the time of harvest is a time of celebration and happiness. I remembered the time we were planting, it was not easy I had to beg my wife to follow me just to be around while we work but she would not. In fact even myself most times I found it hard to go to farm. I was seeing it as stressful and dirty work. But guess what now, the morale is high whenever it is time to harvest. Yesterday my wife was the one begging me that we should go to farm and harvest. She love to see the harvested cassava tubers. Somehow I was excited about it too. Yes it was stressful harvesting having to use all your strength to pull the tubers out and sometimes you have to dig down to bring out some parts. But you there is this joy that flows naturally when you see the outcome of your work. Especially when the result is pleasing and worthwhile, our harvest yesterday was robust.

I think one of the thing that brings the joy so full is the fact that at the end of the harvest we sold out major of it since we are not ready for processing the tubers into other food. Not only the tubers we also sold some of the stems to other farmers. At the end of yesterday's harvest we made equivalent of 18 Steem Dollars in Naira.
We would have made higher gain if we are able to process it into other food. From the cassava tubers, there are several foods that can be processed out. They include;
Cassava Flour: which can be used to make bread, pancakes, chinchin and other things.
Tapioca is made from cassava tubers, here, the cassava is cooked half done and then sliced to flat pieces which are put in water for some hours before eaten with groundnut or other things.
Garri is another very important food processed from cassava tubers. I will discuss this process in another post.
So far our hard work of some time ago had paid off now as we joyfully spend the money we made from the harvest yesterday.
