Our garri journey started at the farm. We went to harvest cassava, dug them out of the ground,
gathered them together, and brought them home.
After harvesting, we kept the cassava until the next day.
Then we started peeling and washing them properly, getting them ready for the next stage of processing.
When it was time to grind the cassava
, the rain decided to join us! 😂🌧️ It rained that day, but we still continued with the process because we had already started.
After grinding and completing the other processing stages, it was finally time to roast the garri.
And let me tell you, the smoke almost finished me! 😭😂 The smoke was so much that it almost blinded me, but I couldn't give up. I continued until we were finally done roasting.
After all that work, seeing the finished garri made everything worth it. ❤️
It's easy to buy garri and forget how much work goes into producing it.
From harvesting the cassava, peeling, washing, grinding, processing, and finally roasting it is definitely a process!
This was our little journey from the cassava farm to homemade garri. 🇳🇬
Have you ever helped process cassava into garri?
