January - 1 - 2023
Trust me when I say the beginning of the year was boring for me, because it was.
The time was 1:43pm, I had just woken up after going to bed by 6am that morning due to the New Year Vigil everyone of us at home had attended. Someone has somehow managed to get up early to prepare some Fried Rice and chicken, that was like the kind of food people over here cook for new year celebrations so I wasn't really surprised but what surprised me was the fact that everyone else had gotten up and had eaten before me and no one bothered to wake me up even though I had initially told them that morning that I was feeling hungry before going to bed.
"We didn't want to wake you up" they said but haven't they heard the saying that no sleep for a hungry man (or isn't that the saying, lol). Anyways, it turned out my dad's brother was around, no one told me he was visiting either (they don't tell me anything in this house anymore), I just got up and saw him with the rest of the family in the living room watching and arguing about football. I greeted everyone before running into the kitchen to get my food because everything was starting to get blurry for me at this stage.
The fried rice was okay, I've definitely had better but I was appreciative. After eating. This was when I thought about what to do with my self because it seemed like everyone else either already had something planned or they were busy with something. Unfortunately, I had nothing. It was the 1st of January and I had made no plans to go out or do anything fun.
My brothers all left to go have fun while I returned to my room to continue the sleep from where I left off even though I was no longer feeling sleepy. Everyone else who had something planned all left for their various events while I remained indoors with my phone, trying to do whatever I could to not have a boring 1st of January (it didn't work).
I couldn't believe I brought my boring lifestyle all the way home with me.
Anyway, it got to night time and everyone was back home now, I found out my uncle had no plans of leaving that day (no one told me this either, I had to find out on my own). This was a first because he had never slept over before. Well, we got served the remaining leftover because cooking something else and leaving the fried rice for tomorrow will only make it get spoilt. We all ate and I got busy on my phone again, waiting to feel sleepy so that I can go back to bed because apparently, those were the only things I could do, eat, press phone and sleep.
