I've always been the guy who sees the glass as half empty instead half full and it has always been something that has affected for most part of my life. It got so bad that I had somehow convinced myself that bad things always chose to happen to me.
Well, I remember my thoughts about that whole thing began to change, all thanks to my girlfriend at the time.
And it all started one evening while I was trying to register for an airdrop that was time sensitive. I had told my friends about the airdrop, and every one of them had successfully registered for it, but when I tried, I kept hitting these errors that were coming out of nowhere.
It was so frustrating because the airdrop, like I said, was time-sensitive, and I remember after trying it one more time and it not working, I had blurted out that I don't know why these things keep happening to me. And immediately those words left my mouth; she had immediately reprimanded me like I was a little kid, telling me that she didn't like those words and hated the fact that I always thought I was cursed with bad luck.
Now, considering the fact that I was already having a frustrating day, my first instinct usually would have been to argue with her, but for some reason, what she said and the way she said it made me calm, because I knew it came from a place of love.
So I kept mute for a bit, picked up my laptop, and kept on trying. And I probably didn't even try for up to five minutes before it eventually worked. After it worked, I had looked at her and apologized. I wasn't even sure what I had apologized for, but it felt right.
And since then, I have refused to see myself the same way ever since. I no longer believe that I'm cursed with bad luck, and if I do something and it doesn't work out the first time, I will keep on trying until it does. Why? Well, because I'm not the half-full type of guy.
