There are certain things people sometimes do, things that when you think about it, make you a little hesitant to help next time.
A few days ago, I was seated outside with two of my friends, and one of them was complaining bitterly about how hungry he was. He had actually knocked on my door to ask if I had cooked any meal that day, which really wasn't a strange thing to do as we do it a lot around here.
But I rarely cook at home, so my answer had been no, and we had all gone to sit outside. If we sat there for two hours, he probably was talking about how hungry he was for about an hour and a half. So when everyone eventually went into their rooms, I had knocked on his door and offered to buy him some noodles that he could cook.
I equally was really broke, but hearing him complain that much touched a place in my heart that I couldn't ignore, so I had to squeeze out of the little cash I had to give him some.
When I had offered to pay for some noodles for him, he had told me that he didn't want to eat noodles and that he wanted something else, which was fine to me, as long as it didn't exceed the limit I was willing to spend for him, which I also told him.
So we both walked down to the store where they sold groceries because I also wanted to get some stuff for myself. But something happened right after I was done making payment for what we had both purchased that for some reason made me feel somehow.
After I had made payment, this guy had proceeded to buy some other stuff at the store; these were things that ended up being about three times the price of what I had spent on him.
For some reason, it made me feel like I had been scammed in some kind of way, because here I am, using my last cash to help you out, only for me to find out that you probably have more cash than I do, and you probably should even be the one helping me out.
I felt played but couldn't say anything about it because no one forced me to help. I had offered to help, and that was that.
