The time was 9:46pm. The guards were on their usual routine, patrolling up and down the whole place. They made sure not even a fly flew past them without them knowing.
The guard at the watchtower noticed some disturbance in the road up ahead. He brought out his binoculars and peered through it.
The unmistaken military truck that had their logo on it was speeding down the road.
In the truck, the driver whose concentration was on the road had a piece of clothing covering his head, nose and mouth, leaving only his eyes visible. He had this terrible markings on his face that was clearly as a result of a knife fight.
They were four other men in the truck. One was at the front seat with the driver, while the other three were at the back. Three out of this four men had their faces covered the same way like the driver, while the fourth guy hands were tied and his eyes blindfolded.
“Who is he?” one of the guards asked as they approached the checkpoint.
“He's American. He said he wanted to buy ammunition” the guy beside the driver said in french while the others in the truck laughed. “He walked up to us in the market and asked if we could sell some ammunitions to him. I said sure and asked him to come in and he did. We think his people got some cash, wouldn't hurt getting some ransom off of him.” the guard said and they all laughed again.
The man at the gate motioned for the gate to opened and watched as they drove in.
“How stupid can Americans be?” he thought.
The two guys at the back of the truck roughly dragged the man towards a prison cell. Eric's blindfold had been taken off and even though the ray of light affected his eyes, he was still able to see where they were headed.
“There was prisoner that was brought in here three days ago, where is he?” he asked the guards who were shocked to hear him speak. He wasn't suppose to be awake until after three hours when the drugs they injected him with had subsided.
“Where is he?” Eric asked, this time, in French.
The first guard attempted to hit him with the butt of his gun but Eric was faster. A little step to the side and the gun missed his head. Eric quickly retaliated with a punch to the chin with sent the man flying to the ground unconscious. He didn't wait for the other guard to make a move before sending his fist into the man guts.
Blood mixed with saliva could be seen on the floor as Eric bent down and took the dagger that was at the guards boot.
“Now you're going to tell me what I need to know or by the time I'm done with you, there will be separate burials for different parts of your body.”
The guard looked at Eric, fear written all over his face.
Eric sigh “Have it your way.” he said as the scream of the man went down the hall.
Alex stayed calm as he thought of how to execute his mission. His been here for three days, enduring all of the torture yet he hadn't figured a way on how to escape this place with the asset intact. He quickly shot his eyes, pretending to be asleep as he heard the gate to his cell click open.
“Alex, wake up.. We've got to go”
Alex could have sworn that was the voice of his brother but he still didn't move.
“Alex! Wake up goddammit. We ain't got much time.” Eric said said and kicked him in his stomach.
Alex couldn't hold it any longer. “Uurgghh.. What are you doing here?”
“Saving your ass, that's what.”
“But you can't be here. I'm on a mission.”
“A mission that went sideways two days ago. The CIA that you work for thought you're dead. We all did but mom thought otherwise. She forced me to come look for you in this shit hole. Now can we go?”
“Not without Alice.”
Eric bite his lips. “And who the fuck is Alice?”
“She's the whole reason why I'm here. She's got dirt on Abdul, that's why he's keeping her prisoner here in this camp.”
Eric frowned. “Abdul the leader of the terrorist group?”
Now it was Alex turn to frown. “Yes. You mean you came in here not knowing who this people are?”
Eric shrugged.
“We get Alice and we're done right?”
“Right.” Alex replied.
“Here.” Eric handed him a rifle which had blood stains on it.
“You mind explaining what happened to the guy who used to own this?”
“Don't ask.” Eric said and motioned for Alex to lead the way. It was time to save Alice and get this over with.
