Hello everyone 👋,
Happy Sunday, happy holidays 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. It's another 24 hours to be grateful for and as the day fades away, am raring to go with my stepping activities of the day including some of the trending stories I came across. It's Christmas eve and am feeling grateful, thank you for being here and let's get cracking 💨.
So just like yesterday, I kicked off with the fast paced morning session. Thoroughly enjoyed the cool morning breeze 🍃 as I made my way around the neighborhood 🌲. But it was a short walk. Then I was back indoors for some rest and the daily household chores. A little bit of youtube and cooking then the afternoon saw me go out to the mall for some groceries. Next came the refreshing nap💤. I woke up some time later in the evening and continued watching some of the earlier videos and news.
I did finish off the day with the slow paced evening walk. Now let's quickly take a look what has been trending in the media streets.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹, otherwise a quiet day. People were busy getting ready for Xmas, some travelling out of the city to their rural homes.
Globally, the dire situation in Gaza is getting worse🙀. 166 Palestinians killed in the last 24 hours in various locations.
According to Gaza health ministry the total death toll is at 20,424 and 54,000 injured😭.
Heavy fighting in north Gaza between Hamas fighters and Israeli soldiers. Israeli military says 15 of its soldiers killed since Friday.
Israeli defence minister also added that the army was gradually completing it's goals in northern Gaza.
In the occupied west bank, Bethlehem is empty of joy, no santa 🎅, no celebrations this year. This in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza who are suffering under the continuous shelling of Israel😿.
Also trending, the houthis are doing the most in the Red Sea😹. Five major shipping companies have stopped using the red sea route due to attacks🙀. This will definitely lead to higher shipment charges and increased prices😿.
A shocking story as US says that a tanker off India's coast has been hit by drone from Iran🙀. The attack caused a fire on board the chemical tanker in the Indian ocean.
Trending in Europe, Ukraine will be celebrating first Xmas on 25 December. The move to the western calendar is seen as a further shift away from Moscow's influence💯. Ukraine has traditionally used the Julian calendar, also used by Russia where Xmas falls on 7 January.
Finally, police in Slovakia say they have arrested a man who threatened to carry out a massacre similar to Thursday's mass shooting in Prague🙀. Am glad he was arrested and hopefully he can get the help he needs 💯.
