Happy Sunday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. It's a new month🎊; another 24 hours to be grateful for and as the day fades away, am raring to go with my stepping activities of the day including some of the trending stories I came across. Thank you for being here and let's get cracking 💨.
So just like yesterday, I kicked off with the fast paced morning session. Thoroughly enjoyed the cool morning breeze 🍃 as I made my way around the neighborhood 🌲. But it was a short walk. Then I was back indoors for some rest and the daily household chores. A little bit of youtube and cooking then the afternoon saw me go out walking in the hills. Next came the refreshing nap💤. I woke up some time later in the evening and continued watching some of the earlier videos and news.
I did finish off the day with the slow paced evening walk. Now let's quickly take a look what has been trending in the media streets.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹. Then celebrations as Kenya won medals in the ongoing athletics in Riga, Latvia. Congratulations 🎉🥳 to team Kenya.
On the continent, its independence day in Nigeria but economic blues have dampened patriotism. Nigerians of all ages say they are disillusioned with the country's progress in six decades😿.
Globally, Turkey trending, after a blast in Ankara outside govt buildings and parliament🙀. The banned Kurdish group PKK claimed responsibility for that attack.
In retaliation, Turkey has carried out raids on Kurdish targets in north Iraq. The aerial operation destroyed 20 targets including caves, shelters and depots 🙀.
Spain trending as 13 people were killed in nightclub fire in Murcia😿, my sincere condolences to the bereaved families😭.
Azerbaijan trending as the region of Nagorno karabakh has became a ghost town as close to 120,000 ethnic Armenians have fled into Armenia these past ten days. Azeri forces were seen on the ground changing names of some streets😹.
Across the pond in the US, president Biden has said he was sick of brinkmanship😹. This after Congress passed a bipartisan bill to avert govt shutdown just hours ahead of midnight deadline. US Congress agreed to keep federal funding going for 45 days but it includes no new aid for Ukraine🙀. Despite this Biden reassured allies and Kyiv US will not walk away from Ukraine.
