I thank you all for stopping by yet again. Time to wrap things up and quickly take a look at how my day has been plus share some trending stories. Let's get rolling 💨.
So as always my day began with a little bit of stretching then a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. That fresh morning breeze🍃 was so wonderful. Then I was back indoors where I rested then got on with the little daily chores around the house. In between I caught up with the latest news and watched some crypto and youtube. My next walking came later in the afternoon getting some errands done at the city centre. Then I was back indoors for the usual nap. I woke up feeling refreshed some time early evening. watched the news then it was time for the sunset walk. As always slow paced around the neighbourhood and park. So that was the stepping and now let's quickly look at what trended in the media.
Locally, nothing much happening except the usual political shenanigans 😹. Then uproar as fuel prices have hit the highest we have ever seen ever😡. Govt saying its a global affair and there's nothing much they can do about it. We all know when fuel prices go up everything else follows🙀.
On the continent, Libya still trending after the devastating floods. Rescuers are working with dogs to retrieve decomposing bodies from under the rubble. Some bodies that had been swept into the sea are coming onshore🙀. There's a looming outbreak of waterborne diseases. The death toll has surpassed 11k😭.
In nearby Morocco, the search continues one week after that strong earthquake. Aid is beginning to trickle into some of the remote villages. The survivors are coping with injuries and mental trauma 😿, a lot still has to be done.
Globally, Ukraine trending as Kyiv says it has retaken a village just south of Bakmut in eastern Ukraine. The counteroffensive against Russia is still ongoing💯.
Let's go across the pond to the US, auto workers went on strike on Friday after negotiations with car companies failed🙀. President Biden stood with the workers saying workers deserve to share in record profits made by some of these companies, calling for a win win agreement💯. I think it makes sense, why should a few executives get stinking rich while the people on the ground earn peanuts😡.
Also trending, heads of state from more than 100 countries are in Cuba for G77 & China summit. Leaders are to discuss the role of science and technology in tackling development challenges. Global financial reforms and rising debt in developing countries will also be discussed.
