Hello everyone 👋,
Happy Thursday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my report 😊.I've had just another ordinary day stepping it out and as bedtime beckons, it's time to quickly take a look at how my day has been plus some of the trending stories I came across. As always thank you for reading and let's take it away 💨.
So I kicked off the day with some brisk walking 👣 and jogging around the neighbourhood 🌲. A cloudy day but with some beautiful morning breeze 🍃. I had a rather short session then I was back indoors for some resting, a little bit of daily chores and catching up with the news. The next chance of walking came in the afternoon out to the shopping centre for some food. As always I squeezed in the afternoon nap and woke up some time early evening. After some news, world cup and you tube, it was time for the slow paced sunset walk. I had a nice walk then was back indoors still watching news, reading a few stuff before bedtime. So now let's quickly take a look at a summary of what was trending.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹. On the continent, the president of Malawi has asked for urgent global support after tropical storm, Freddy hit eastern region of the country causing widespread devastation and deaths🙀. More than 400 people have died in Malawi, Mozambique and Madagascar 😭. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families 💯.
Globally, Ukraine is to receive 4 fighter jets from Poland in a matter of days. They have been desperately asking for them and also leopard tanks. Good news as the war raged in eastern parts.
Elsewhere in France, political shenanigans as the unpopular pension reforms have been forced through by decree, without a parliamentary vote🙀. Protests have been going on for over 2 months, today protesters were gathered outside parliament too.
Good news in the UK as unions reached a pay offer with the British government 🎊. But that's for nurses and ambulance workers. Junior doctors are yet to be sorted.
Staying in Europe, the European central bank has raised interest rates by 0.5% to 3.5% despite the on going market turmoil. Meanwhile credit Suisse shares closed up 19% after support from the central bank. Credit Suisse has agreed to borrow up to $54 billion from the Swiss Central Bank to shore up it's finances.
Across the pond in the US, treasury chief , Janet Yellen appeared before lawmakers and reassured them that customers can feel confident that their deposits will be there when they need them😹. This after yesterday's scare from Credit Suisse and also the weekend collapse of two banks.
I don't know why people should fully trust governments. There are examples where govts and banks have messed up. Look at Lebanon where recently people were denied access to their funds; some resulted to armed withdrawals😹.
A few years ago in Argentina, dollar accounts were forcibly converted to local lira wiping out people's life savings in minutes🙀. I will always advocate for bitcoin and cryptos💯
So that's it, do check me out yet again tomorrow on an amazing high five Friday 🙌. Until then keep stepping and enjoying yourselves to the max 💯. Nothing much to add but bid you adieu 💖💞💖 Take care, Hakuna Matata.
