I am also truly grateful for this day, it's a blessing to be alive 💯. I thank you all of you for stopping by yet again. So as always my day began with a little bit of stretching then a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. That fresh morning breeze🍃 was so wonderful. Then I was back indoors where I rested then got on with the little daily chores around the house. In between I caught up with the latest news and watched some crypto youtube and world cup too. My next walking came later in the afternoon getting some fruits and veggies. Then I was back indoors for the usual nap. I woke up feeling refreshed some time early evening. watched the news then it was time for the sunset walk. As always slow paced around the neighbourhood and park. So that was the stepping and now let's quickly look at what trended in the media.
Locally, nothing much happening except the usual political shenanigans 😹. Today I have two stories from Africa. Let's start in Equatorial Guinea where the longest serving president, Teodoro Obiang has just been sworn in for a sixth term. He has been in power since 1979🙀.
Down in South Africa, the govt. is pushing for legalization of prostitution to reduce violence against women💯.
Globally, Russia trending as released swap prisoner, Viktor Bouth, arrived back home, Putin said future swaps are possible 😹. An opposition leader, Ilya Yasin was jailed for 8 years for misinformation 🙀. He had talked about Russians killing Ukrainians in Bucha on his you tube page.
Across the pond in the US, the other swap prisoner Grinner arrived back home 👋. Over at the UN, Russia has been accused of trying to illegally acquire arms from Iran and North Korea 🙀.
Then political shenanigans as Arizona senator Kyrsten Sinema plans to leave the Democratic party and register as independent 😹.
The world cup was back on today, a sad day for Brazil as Croatia edged them out during the penalty shoot out 😭. All the best to Croatia as they proceed to semi finals 👋🎉.
In the ongoing match, Argentina's Messi and team are doing the most, just about to punish the Netherlands 🙀. It's into extra time as the Netherlands came back with a last minute equalizer. May the best team win. Am looking forward to tomorrow's games 😹.
