A woman whom I consider a very good online friend wrote an article on her blog that basically said she is a writer who does not write.
I can connect with that. Until I started my blog I knew that I liked to write. I knew that I had a “blog in my head”. I never knew it was a blog in my head until I started my blog though.
It was a sermon in my head, a science project in my head, a speech in my head, a day dream. But it was there.
A lot of people used to say that I think too much, I think it’s a good thing for a blogger to do.
I knew that in order for me to understand my thoughts and ideas I needed them to be on paper. But I never thought of myself as a writer.
I am starting to change my thinking. I am a writer who writes. I may write for me, I may write what I want, when I want. I may write oddly and not so well. I may ramble on and on. But I am a writer and I love it.
This blog is so much more than I ever dreamed it would be. Through it I have built confidence in myself. Not so much that I now think I’m great, but I now can share myself with others and not get quite so scared about it even knowing that I am NOT so great.
Sharing myself with the online world – not so hard.
Sharing myself with my husband and offline friends and family -hard. But I did it and I will continue to do it. (Mainly because it’s either stop putting up my articles or ask them to unsubscribe, lol.)
Regardless of why I started this blog, God has taken it and used it for His purposes in my life. He is growing me.
Now, if I can’t get some control over this and tone it down a bit I will become a writer-who-doesn’t-write-until-school-planning-house-cleaning-family-loving-and-sufficient-sleeping is done for the day. Maybe I should add a shower to my list?
THE COOLNESS OF JODI
Jodi- my online friend who got me thinking about all this is pretty cool.
She is a missionary Mom, writes a blog, tweets, wears cookie monster t-shirts, starts wordy trends, and lives in Canada.
She also does boring normal things like homeschools, parents her 4 kids, attends anime conventions, and begs churches for money almost every Sunday. Oh and she thinks I should clip my toenails.
