Pole, acroyoga, silks, hammock, dance, and many more of the movement sports are all about making shapes with the human body. The possibilities of shapes and lines that can be made with the body is endless and can create so much beauty. To me, it is an art form. Since acroyoga and standing acrobatics requires two people, there are even more shapes to be created!
My sister @karensuestudios and I had an acro jam with friends at one of the only local beaches, Little Elm Beach. It's actually a beach where the city imported sand on a corner of the lake. We played all afternoon, and sunset was the perfect opportunity to snap some beautiful silhouette photos.
@karensuestudios made this lovely shape in a standing acrobatic lift called the arabesque. Definitely looks to me like a dancer's silhouette.
I think silhouette photography is the ultimate style of photography to showcase shapes and to portray a feel of a photo through a shape. The dark contrast of the subject against the background brings drama and is precise in the lines. We had 3 flyers and 3 bases, so here is our best attempt to coordinate a standing back fly :)
This one is called high camel. Can you see the shape of the camel's hump?
Here is my friend Krista from pole - I love the way the sun shines on this photograph. It was only her second time to acroyoga ever and she did awesome! The movement sports have a lot of similarities making for a great transition between them.
Have any of you tried making shapes and silhouettes? Please share in the comments below if so! I also love hearing your feedback :) Thanks for following and upvoting if you enjoyed my post!
