This restaurant review is a follow up to this one from a few weeks back.
Bella Luna is a wood-fired pizza restaurant in downtown Harrisonburg, tucked away in the beautiful Shenandoah valley. It had a classic feel to it, like fond memories of sunlit days.
The inside of the restaurant looked like it was going to be used in a tasteful art-house film such as La Dolce Vita. The exposed brick and minimal decor really give off the cozy feeling of being wrapped in a blanket with your lover, sexual tension hanging in the air, thick, like the smoke from the wood fire lingering nearby. It perfectly reflected the service and food.
The waiter seemed nice. The perfect example of professionalism. I dunno, I never really met a server like this before. He took my order of a Ring of Fire pizza and then disappeared, possibly to think about his life decisions to marry the person of his dreams and settle down to start a family, because every time I saw him afterwards he had a more pleasant look on his face.
Every day at the Bella Luna is most likely an inspiration where the waiter knows full well that just outside the front door is the a welcoming and thriving city, freedom, and a fulfilling life. But he's ok with working here, he's happy taking my order for a Ring of Fire and day dreaming about using his well earned tips to buy a real ring and pop the question to the girl of his dreams while walking in the park on a starry night, much like tonight, with the beautiful moon watching from above. I was so pleased with the service I left a large tip and reached out my hand to shake his and thank him for his service.
The glass of Pale Fire Deadly Rhythm I got was very refreshing and intriguing. The mystery of ingredients paired nicely with the thoughtful choice of pizza ingredients. Wow! It is like reading a classic novel and you're trying to figure out all the dense literary references because you know there is more than meets the eye!
Every meal sounded like it was named after the owners personal favorite Bach concerto. The best word I could use to describe my meal is: astounding. It tasted like the inside of the restaurant looks: happy couples as far as the eye could see and women's tennis on the bar television screen.
All in all I would rate this place a 10 out of 10 if it was a entered into a contest where you had to make a restaurant that embodied the spirit of universal love. I'm saying eat here, literally pass by every other restaurant on the way there and, well, enjoy, buddy. You deserve it.
