I needed more firepower while facing a relentless horde of zombies in a dark area. By crafting grenades and executing precise melee strikes, I eliminated exploding threats, collected crucial crafting scraps, and cleared a path through the corridors to reach the control room safely.
Fortunately, I realized I could craft grenades, and I had already crafted one earlier to aid in my survival. With my gear prepped, I stepped forward to open the door, only to be met with immediate chaos. An explosive zombie suddenly rushed over and detonated right in front of me.
Another one walked toward me sluggishly, as if it lacked enough stamina to make a proper sprint. I stood my ground, timed my attack, and beheaded it before it could get any closer.
Shortly after, another explosive burst came out of nowhere from another zombie, blasting the creature away into the distance. I managed to back up at the perfect time, knowing very well that I would have been a goner if I had taken the full brunt of that blast.
Looking around the dim area, I saw yet another exploder in the distance and baited it toward me. I kept my distance and watched as it blew away at the perfect moment.
Although the explosion failed to take out the surrounding zombies along with it, I handled the rest of the horde myself using precise strike after strike.
After taking out the remaining threats, it looked like I was done clearing all the zombies in the immediate area for the time being.
I knew I needed scraps to craft more valuable items for the journey ahead, so I searched the surroundings carefully, hoping there would not be any volatiles lurking in this dark place. I moved quietly through the shadowy halls, keeping my guard up with every step I took.
Then I reached the door of the control room, which I hoped would lead me straight to the generator room so I could restore power and secure the location.
Upon reaching the entrance, I noticed a few more zombies wandering around the corridor, forcing me to clear them out before I could safely open the door and move forward.
