Governments do not understand that they cannot control cryptocurrencies
It is curious, although I has already talked about this topic in the past, today I am talking about it again because it is still a trend, I mean it is still as current as it has always been; and it is the fact that governments do not understand that they cannot control cryptocurrencies no matter how hard they try or wish. And just as they cannot control cryptocurrencies and what they represent, they cannot control us (those of us who use cryptocurrencies) either, as much as they want to.
Governments will never escape the illusion of control
In metaphysics it is taught that control is an illusion, it is an ego obstacle that generates fear and is based on a negative feeling of scarcity, which sustains the mistaken conviction that everything is limited and that it can end at some point.
It seems unbelievable, but on a physical level, specifically, on the level of world economies and politics, governments show over and over again that they cannot escape that desire or aspiration of wanting to control everything; and on the other hand, it is something that should not surprise us, since it is something they are used to and it is what they do best. I mean, the governments of the countries are used to governing based on reward and punishment systems, but where everything must try to be controlled and the higher level of control the government in question has, the better everything will be (at least in theory).
The control of cryptocurrencies and those who use them: Another great mirage
But as it happens in the metaphysical plane, governments are constantly banging their heads against the wall, because they do not understand that the control, penalties and restrictions in the cryptocurrency plane are nothing more than a great mirage, that is, a totally impossible and improbable optical illusion due to the very nature of cryptocurrencies and what they represent.
The lack of understanding of this reality is what leads governments to want to regulate everything related to cryptocurrencies as if they were normal and current assets, or as if we were talking about the fiat money of a lifetime.
We see proof of this over and over again through news such as the one I have seen today, a reference to the fact that Lithuania wants to be more rigorous in the control and regulation of cryptocurrencies and for this it wants to ban anonymous accounts (speaking at the level of Wallets).
This is true nonsense that shows us once again how the rulers of the countries are totally ignorant and misguided about the intrinsic nature of cryptocurrencies. Because trying to block or penalize the use of wallets through legislation and enforcement (for whatever reason) is like trying to block the sea with a board, or trying to hide the sun with a finger.
For the same reason, and in the same order of ideas, try to restrict the use of Wallets with the excuse of identification, in an attempt to know who exactly are the people who handle the cryptocurrencies that are sent or received at a given time, it is something that does not make the slightest sense.
And it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense for the simple reason that you can't limit the very nature of something that can't be changed. Because it's like some ruler saying, "It's forbidden for a human being to flap his arms and fly at level of the planes, and whoever does it will be punished with fines and even years in prison".
It is simply absurd because it would go against the intrinsic nature of the human being, it implies a lack of knowledge of what the human being is and what he can or cannot do (no matter how much he wants), given its physical form and its limitations and possibilities. . Quite simply, a human being cannot fly, Period... No matter how much he flaps its arms, a human being cannot fly at any level, much less rise to the level of airplanes just by using its arms and without the use of some artifact, device or other aircraft, because it is something that is physically impossible and always will be. Therefore, creating a law that punishes that fact is as absurd as it is useless and illogical.
The very nature of cryptocurrencies
Like all things in this world, cryptocurrencies have an intrinsic nature that defines them; Among them, the fact of being secure, encrypted, and decentralized (based on the blockchain); and anonymous.
By anonymous, I mean that anyone can handle cryptocurrencies without revealing their identity, this is how everything related to cryptocurrencies has been since the creation of Bitcoin. Therefore, when sending crypto funds, only three things are visible to the world: The address of the sender (the one who sends), the address of the recipient (the one who receives), and the amount that is sent; but in no case is it possible to see the name and surname (or any other personal data) of the sender or recipient.
This is the very nature of cryptocurrencies, and it is part of what makes them so safe; because no matter how much someone wants it, nobody can know who sends or who receives, be it the President of the United States, Mandrake the Wizard, the Pope of Rome, or whoever... It is simply impossible to know this data, and this is precisely one of the biggest attractions of cryptocurrencies today.
What the governments allege
We all know that what the governments are trying to achieve in this sense is useless, they will achieve absolutely nothing with it other than uselessly wasting contries budgets, because what they intend to control, regulate and penalize goes beyond the logic and understanding they have about the cryptocurrencies and their nature, and even more, exceeds the level of power and logistics they have or possess.
But the fact is that with all this situation and intentionality, governments generate news headlines and negative opinion matrices, 'cause they intending to make to believe that they want to control cryptocurrencies just to prevent money laundering and organized crime...
But the reality of things is that they only want to limit cryptocurrencies and increasingly limit economically to their citizens in such a way they do not have the possibility of emerging or facing the negative effects of the inflation and stagnation that they themselves (the politicians) They have caused by their incompetence and ignorance in handling economic issues of transcendental importance.
This allows us to see that the governments only want their slice, their piece of the cake in all this; because clearly the intention of their actions is not to limit organized crime and money laundering, since they know very well that what is most used for such purposes is fiat money, which by the way, they issue themselves.
And if they haven't been able to control money laundering at the fiat level, how are they going to be able to control it at the crypto level?
And what is more, if it is known that more than 95% of money laundering is carried out through fiduciary money and the rest is through cryptocurrencies, it is something absurd (from every point of view) to pretending say that they seek more control at cryptocurrencies to prevent money laundering; because it is not even remotely something that is transcendent in that sense; therefore, it is something absurd and impractical from every point of view, because fiat money is what is most used for illegal purposes of all kinds at all levels, and because cryptocurrencies are not a potential risk in that sense.
In any case, the rulers continue to do their best (especially those of the European Union), to try to regulate cryptocurrencies, and although it is something that they can never be achieve in any way (since those who use cryptocurrencies have millions of ways to avoid any absurd form of limitation), they have generated things like there are more and more exchanges that require KYC (Know Your Customers) processes from people who use them to trade cryptocurrencies; and this really is a kick in the butt, but this does not mean that with this they will limit the sale of cryptos, instead of that, with this, they are simply motivating that those who own cryptocurrencies seek and find alternative ways to buy and sell its cryptos, which will translate into each perhaps less use of crypto exchanges in that regard.
So summarizing
It is not that governments cannot limit or control cryptocurrencies because someone says so, it is that they simply cannot because it is like going against the laws of physics.
It's like (saving distances) trying to eliminate all gravity from planet earth, or like trying to change the orbit of the planet earth or the sun by means of a law... It's simply not possible.
But governments will never understand that they cannot control cryptocurrencies, and therefore they always dream of the possibility of achieving it, and they will continue with that illusion until cryptocurrencies are massively adopted, and there (at that precise moment) and only there, when perhaps they will understand that limit and controlling cryptocurrencies is a mirage and something that has never been and will never be within their reach.
