I loved her, I adored her. She was free and wild at heart. She had mad courage! And lot of that came from deep seated trust towards me. She knew I would come to her rescue no matter what the situation is.
And she knew me, when she looked at me, I knew she saw me, my heart, my soul, all of me. She was not the touchy feely kind, except when she felt like it. She never strayed too far, always kept me in her visor.
She traveled with me, slept in the car with my dogs, stopped at rest stops to stretch her legs and camped with me. She always came when I called her. Even when she was feeling mischievous and she didn’t want to come. On those occasions she would come but keep just enough distance, so that I couldn’t catch her
When I first saw her on the street and took her in, they told she might not make it but I convinced her that she could. I held her tiny body in my hands to keep her warm and make sure she knew she was loved. She always nestled herself into my hair for the night and I was careful to be still, to not disturb her.
And now she lays still and my heart is in pieces. Shalimar, you taught me to trust, be fearless and love so hard - it hurts. Forever in my heart wild one - I was lucky that our paths crossed. Until we meet again, I miss and love you terribly.
