There's no shortage of people to tell you that you are a limitless being, a being that is essentially free.
What does that mean though? It's meaningless if we can't live it. Do you feel free right now? Do you feel limitless? What do the activities of our daily lives reflect about our condition. It can tend towards one of obligation and doubt. Why is this?
Because of mind.
The human scenario is that we ARE literally limitless and free, but we also have something called mind. Mind is an aspect of our experience, or you could say it occurs inside of our experience. The fatal mistake is to think that we are mind.
Mind derives power from the being (we are the being). And it gets this power in the form of attention. That is the way that anything gets power. Habits, thoughts, patterns, people. Have you ever noticed that the moment you stopped giving a damn about something was the exact moment it stopped bothering you?
I would like to stop for a moment and ask where the power comes from.
If we are not the mind, and we are powering mind to do things - then who are we? And where does the power come from? Surely it's not from any personified identity, unless that be an identity of great expansiveness and aliveness. Who among us identifies ourselves as that 'godlike' persona? Who among us literally blesses everyone and everything we come across? Who among us venerates life in all of its aspects and radiates that essence of embodiment?
Well many beings have come to this, although it's not exactly a hot topic for fear based media. In fact it's not particularly sensational at all, because it's so simple and so natural. Yogis and masters, and ascended/transcended beings have always been with us. ARE always with us. And it could just be a simple flip of perspective that sparks the recognition that we share unity with that same perspective - we merely forgot all about it whilst playing the human identity game.
The human tendency is to get stuck in belief, and to debate with other humans about which belief to take up. What should we empower with thoughts? What is the right way? What if the mental plane is just one plane among many, it's certainly not the all encompassing plane. It's clearly not the source of the power. Mind is also wasteful with energy, as long as it is not aligned with it's power source.
Mind uses energy to divide and squander, mind is not 'self' sufficient - it's just a tool for oneness.
What can mind do when it is aware of its power source? What can mind do when it redevotes its energy back to the thing that powers it? This is the question I want to ask you.
I don't expect an answer but I may very well get one. I feel that the answer is more in the living it, than in the explanation. How will mind react to something that threatens its domination over your reality? If mind is a survival aspect of the human then I might assume it will take measures against a percieved threat.
Who are we in that whole scenario? We seem to be aware of that whole play happening, yet so easily identified with the part that is attempting to escape it's own death. We are habitually identified with the survival aspect.
Mind is always ready to come back in and make it about ME, and YOU, THEM, and all these divisions.
It's just a simple game, it's the fundamental game. It's the basis of existence.
Can we learn to acknowledge the great unknown that we come from?
Can we learn to be ok with not knowing, and in that space begin to expand into the unknown?
By starting with the mind we always have a conditions.
By starting with emptiness we are open to see the unknown of the wider context.
