Today I am Grateful for Feijoas, these are a special kind of fruit that grows in New Zealand. I'm also going to go on a big spiel about how food affects the human on a deep level.
It's hard to describe what they taste like, you really have to just taste one.
But I can say that they are
SOUR
and
SWEET
With a soft and slightly grainy texture.
Full of beautiful live enzymes, making the body more alive!
I'm so grateful for these, they taste great!
I have been focused a lot on food this past year or so, I know it's important for everyone. When we eat the right foods we have a lot more energy. This means that we physically feel good, can stay relaxed and focused and we don't lose our emotional balance so easily. Some foods clog up the digestive system and use up a lot of the bodies resources to counter balance this. We don't realize how much our experience all comes back to the digestive system.
Sevan Bomar, a famous esoteric explorer has talked about how the intestine is the maze, with the minotaur in the middle. We get lost in the maze and our consciousness gets trapped in that part of the body (which he calls Bhaal after some etymological gymnastics). Theoretically the consciousness can inhabit many different things, although this ability to move around is limited through the habitual misuse of the body.
It makes sense logically - that when the body is constantly having to use resources to re balance its self, they it isn't able to devote those resources elsewhere. What is the body naturally capable of when it's not always unbalanced? We can't really know unless we have done the experiment and radically changed the diet. I am going to throw this out there, in a state of balance we have an amazing intuitive capacity and a great zest for life as well. Things become less of a drudgery and more of an exciting game.
I don't want to accuse anyone here, we all choose our own diet and there's no judgement regardless of what you want to eat. Yet we have to recognize that diet is something that is very emotionally charged, and it's a kind of conditioning inherited from our upbringing and society. Food is comfort and love, and if you ask someone to give something up or try something new, they can get very defensive and even aggressive. There is also the stereotype of the aggressive or well spoken vegan who shares their dietary preferences a little too openly. TBH why not? It's just the same as someone being vocal about a 'traditional' diet.
I'm not here to get really get into any of that murky territory, because like I said no one is really right or wrong. I just want to open up the discussion and the experiential exploration. We do need to recognize and be honest though. Different foods will do different things to your mind and conscious experience. If you've run some trials on your self then you will have some data to look at, and if you haven't then you will only have speculation. That's about the size of it.
So I took up a plant based diet, which means I don't eat the flesh of animals from the land or sea. And I don't eat the lactate of cows and other mammals, fermented or otherwise. I don't eat the unfertilized ovums of chickens either. I might occasionally eat some honey. But mostly it's various kinds of fruits and vegetables, and all of the other parts of plants that we get food from like seeds and nuts and the rest.
I mostly did this to see how it would change my experience of life (my vibration), but also if you've done a quick youtube search to see the reality of how these products get to the super market - then you can see that it's down right nasty. So also compassion is a good trait. We could make good use of putting it into practice - systematized food production is very heartless. Your heart needs to be blocked to deal with how cruel it is and be a part of that machine. To keep living things in horrible conditions, living in fear, then killed against their will. Some organizations including govenments also view humans similarly, killing them according to a mind program. Are the two things perhaps connected?
Systematized anything is heartless, it's disconnected. Why are we all so disconnected? The diet is a big part of it, no connection to the food we eat. Just looking at it as some commodity, and not the fertile abundance of our mother earth - offering her life to us. We don't seem to see ourselves outside of a mind program, so getting in touch with your diet is a great way to open back up to life.
Anyway...
I took up the plant based diet. How did it change me? Well I found I had a lot more energy, and I was less emotionally down. After only a few weeks without animal products I was feeling very alive. I actually had an experience in my living room late at night where I felt very connected to life, and it was quite beautiful.
I had been doing yoga and meditation for a while at this point, but the change in diet instigated a kind of shift. And without that heaviness I could begin to access a more subtle realm. So I feel that diet is very important if we are moving into the subtle realm. Eat the wrong thing and the inbalance in the body will remove any change of taking your meditation further. Instead we will just float in a kind of dullness.
So I have been keeping this up since November 2016, and I am never looking back. Only forward to further refinement. My current experiment is with juice fasting, which I began testing out a short time ago. My speculation is that the body does even better without solid food at all! Many will likely balk at that, but hey we live in an age of assumptions and falsehoods. My other experiment is life without coffee, I have detoxed off it about seven times now and then casually started drinking it again. It definitely does things to my brain, some of which I am not that happy about (possibly blocking the pineal gland).
There is a pretty cool guy called Ray Maor that you can find on Youtube. He runs pranic living initiations, whereby he transitions people into a life where they don't actually have to eat anymore! So there is a whole spectrum to the dietary thing, and it puts it into context for me. Some people eat a lot of animal carcasses, and some people don't eat anything at all!
I can only speak for my personal experience, which is that by refining the diet I have been able to perceive more my consciousness, get out of my head, and move more into the meditative state. Not everyone has the strong urge to refine themselves and discover what the life is about, but for me it is a top priority. I don't want to waste this opportunity! I have already wasted a lot of it haha.
So I had to be honest with my self, that if I wan't willing to adjust my diet then I was not really willing to make a sacrifice to life. A really small sacrifice to be honest. I could hardly live a life of service if I couldn't even manage that. So I humbled myself and did it, and I am glad I did it because a whole world opened up.
That's my story, thanks for listening.
Perhaps you guys are grateful for certain foods too?
Or even better you have some cool stories to share about your journey with food, and how it has affected your health and life energies.
Much Love and peace to you my friends
Namaste
