So I've caught the crypto bug hard and been meeting with my one friend regularly (who's here on steemit 
I've seen lots of posts around steemit about other local groups where guys are getting together and chatting and sharing about cryptos. I'm curious about how to go about getting one started.
We're not too worried about finding space and those nuts and bolts, that should be easy enough, but how to find some other people that would be interested. We're hoping to find other people that are already in the world and kind of build a core group that we can build on a grow together. Share our insights and discussions in the space. We're not super experts but also don't want to spend the whole time walking some new guys through the entire process of buying there first coins or using the exchanges. Maybe we'll do something like that every few months or something down the road, but not the main focus of the group.
Do these groups have some sort of established membership criteria and how do you go about screening potential members and recruiting. I worry that by posting on traditional social media we'll just get interest from a few tire kickers and people that just want to learn or hear more about it. I don't personally know anyone else locally investing and anytime I've ever even mentioned crypto's around any people I know, they all look at me like I have a few heads.
It would also be great to hear a bit about the format for most of these meetups or any feedback people that are participating have. What makes a good meet up and what makes a lame one. Are they useful and beneficial, do people find value in them. Maybe the whole idea is just a big waste of time, we're looking for any feedback and suggestions.
We're more then happy to just continue meeting up together for the foreseeable future as well and wait to stumble upon some acquaintances that may be interested.
Oh yeah if anyone on steemit is in Sudbury, Ontario we'd certainly like to recruit you.
