I was recently at the chocolate museum here in barcelona and wanted to show you some of the amazing chocolate sculptures there.
The entrance fee is 6 euros and it took me about 45 minutes to walk through it, however there are many video screens available so if you want to sit down and go more into details you can spend much longer.
The museum explains the origins of chocolate and how it came to Europe. Chocolate used to be heavily taxed, due to European countries wanted people to drink more coffee because they had colonies in countries that produced coffee beans. For a long time chocolate was only available to royalty and upper classes.
For a long time chocolate was used as medicine.
In the early days of chocolate consumption there was no sugar added and it was often drank as a spicy drink with added spices.
The museum offers many activities for all age groups from 0-3/4-6/6-12/13-17years and adults.
The program for adults include guided tours, chocolate tastings and pairing wine or brandy with chocolate.
My favourite part of the museum was definitely the chocolate sculptures that were created by chocolatier masters in Barcelona.
there is also a coffee shop in the entrance hall where you can enjoy coffee, pralines and chocolate.
