For the first monthly topic of thoughtfulposts@thoughtfulposts the topic is:

We all find our center in different ways. Tell us about a practice you have that helps you stay grounded. Bonus points for oddity!
Announcement Post

I would not say I have a specific way to find my center. I don't think I know I am off kilter until I am off kilter. The main indicator for me is mainly noise.

The world is full of noise and mostly a person can keep it outside, I can drown out irritating voices from downstairs by playing some calming music.

I personally manage my phone noise to the T and there is not a sound it will make that I have not approved of. That all sounds like very obvious noise but they all add up. Interruptions to my day is also noise. Doom scrolling is noise, and possibly having too long of a chat with someone in the comments can even become noise.

Generally, I am quite an erratic person when it comes to thinking about what I want to do, less so when it comes to actually doing. Heck just thinking about what I want to do can be overwhelming which is where my calm comes in.

I don't know if it is contradictory because I am not gud with big words. However, I think I find my center in just doing no matter how detached it may seem.

Sometimes I will just come around with a bout of good 'ol consumption without the death and consume series, movies, random youtubes.

Other times I will almost feel worthwhile and create things then buckle down and code a lot more focused, maybe even design.

Most times the noise in my mind translates to controlled noise in my world. Like it bleeds out and I offload the cacophony to a screen near me.

Currently, I am probably in the middle of something like that where I am most calm having my cookie clicker game running and obsessing over balancing the numbers, I have code open which I work at in a burst of focus and I am actively googling random information on whatever back of mind itch I may have. That itch by the look of my tabs is an old one to do with procedural generation and a few other little things.

As it all fades I will likely just start reading more of whatever book I am busy with and I don't know if I am just describing normal phases for everyone but I do know I am quite aware of the phases I go through for weeks at a time. That is to say, if a person can ever truly differentiate the exact time you go from chill to shrill.

I guess I might need something truly zen but till then I try to go with the flow after the dam breaks.
