No, I would not do this. And the reason for me saying that has nothing to do with the fear of the unknown. But it comes down to a simple problem that I cannot ignore, which is the offer that the person offering this never explained properly. Whose experience actually continues?
If there is a clown that was made in a place and it happens that my memory is put inside it, I am still standing exactly where I was, looking at the version of myself walk away with all the things I know. My actual consciousness is not inherited by this new clown continuing forward; what it inherited is just a copy of me that is presumed to be me, doing everything as normal as believing it never stopped, while the actual me, the one writing this post right now, is still faced with whatever it was I was thinking to extend or escape from. It got got someone else who happens to have a memory of me watching it happen instead.
And before anything else happens, that alone will untangle me psychologically. Just thinking of it sitting next to another version of you or me who will get to have the opportunity to live just the lifestyle that I am living, talk to the people I talk to, eat the food I eat, and go where I go, so all the things I do while I quietly fade away in my own story.
In my culture, there is this popular belief, which I know to be true, that there is so much weight that is placed on a person's specific ori, which means that I alone carry my destiny, and it can't be done by someone else, and it can't be transferred or made doubled. Now imagine a clown of me having just my memory but not being able to carry my ori. My life would just be convincingly performed by such a clown.
And I don't think anyone has considered the wreckage that comes with it. If I have a clone of me, who will be claiming the legal right to my wife, my family, my job, or making decisions, or will there be two of me claiming the same relationship? And everything I have, who will be claiming ownership? And what happens when the clown eventually starts to gain ownership of itself and won't agree with my decisions? Since having my memories doesn't give assurance of agreeing with my conclusion till eternity, memories don't mean it will obey me.
Beyond what I have mentioned, I feel low-key, knowing there is a backup might quietly cheapen how seriously I lived. Some of my important decisions came directly from getting to know that this opportunity will never show up again. Do away with that pressure entirely, and I am bothered I will stop showing up fully for my own single, irreplaceable life.
So, my answer still stands as no because I would rather have just this version of myself for life than to have a clown somewhere as something slightly diluted in both places.
