Hello Hive folks, hello Black & White community. I’m back after quite a while without posting here—it wasn't a conscious decision; time just sort of got away from me—and I’m happy to be back, looking at what you’ve all been up to and sharing some of my own work.
Hola gente de Hive, hola comunidad de Black&White. Vuelvo después de un buen rato sin publicar por acá —no fue que lo decidí, simplemente se me fue acumulando el tiempo— y me da gusto estar de nuevo mirando lo que han estado haciendo y trayéndoles algo mío.

Last week, I was sitting on the porch of my mother’s house in Santiago de las Vegas, waiting for the afternoon sun to dip a little lower. Between the columns of the neighboring porch, there’s a small opening that looks directly out toward the corner of 17th Street and the main thoroughfare; from there—without barely moving—I could watch people heading home, most of them wearing that look of late-afternoon weariness.
La semana pasada estaba sentado en el portal de casa de mi madre, en Santiago de las Vegas, esperando a que bajara un poco el sol de la tarde. Entre las columnas del portal de al lado se abre un huequito que da justo hacia la esquina de la calle 17 con la doble vía, y desde ahí, sin moverme casi, se veía pasar a la gente que regresaba para su casa, casi todos con esa cara de cansancio de fin de tarde.

I started taking photos of them just like that, framed by the columns. It wasn't a planned shoot; it just happened while I was sitting there with nothing better to do. Here are a few of them.
Empecé a hacerles fotos así, encajados en ese marco que formaban las columnas. No fue un plan, salió de estar ahí sentado sin nada mejor que hacer. Les dejo algunas.

What struck me most when reviewing the photos later was how much everything changed within such a small space: the light shifting from one minute to the next, people appearing closer or further away—some in a rush, others walking as if they had nowhere in particular to be.

Lo que más me llamó la atención, revisándolas después, es cómo cambiaba todo con tan poco espacio de por medio: la luz de un minuto a otro, la gente más cerca o más lejos, unos apurados y otros caminando como si no tuvieran ningún lugar al que llegar.
